My parents drove me to Alex's house after they released me from the hospital. I only had an hour with him before I had to go back home.
I rang the door bell and he answered three seconds later. He looked at me with such passion in his eyes."Hey," he said quietly.
"Hey," I said back.
"You can come in if you want."
"Uh, thanks," I said. I looked back at my parents in the car and I waved at them to let them know I'm okay.
"We'll be back in an hour!" My mom screamed.
"I know!" I screamed back.
I entered into his house which wasn't that big like mine, but nice. Pictures of his family were everywhere, unlike my house, and the walls were brightly colored, which was unlike my house's boring tan color. I didn't know why I was comparing my house to Alex's, it was something that I always did.
We entered his room and it was bland. No posters except a picture of a weird guy with a ponytail. And he had K'nex in the corner of his room.
I guess he could see the judgmental look on my face because he smirked and said, "I know you're not used to the glamorous room of your friends but I guess this should do."
"I-I didn't mean to-"
"Veronica, it's a joke."
"Oh."
He laughed. It was amazingly sexy. What am I saying?
"So...how ya feeling?"
"Tired," I said as I sat down on his bed.
"Well, you've been in the hospital for awhile."
"Yeah and I won't have been there at all if you didn't help me."
"I was just helping."
"No thank you. I wouldn't be alive without you."
He nodded.
"But I need a favor from you."
Alex raised an eyebrow. "Oh really?"
"I want to show the school what the 'cool kids' are really like."
"What's the point in that?"
"I need to show them how hollow we are inside," I put my head down. "And tell them about the accident."
"Hey don't do this for punishment."
"No, I'm doing this to warn people not to be like this. Like me."
Alex frowned. "There is nothing wrong with you."
"There was something wrong with the old me, I'm trying to change. And that's why I need you." I put my hands on his shoulders. "I don't need another accident like that to happen again. I don't want people to feel what I felt."
He saw the raw passion in my eyes. He contemplated it but then sighed. "Okay I'll help."
My eyes lit up. "Really?"
"Yea. But if this goes out of hand and if you are ridiculed more, then I will stop it."
I vehemently nodded.
"Okay, when do we start?"
