Chapter 12

‘This idiot hooligan,’ Alex started as she pointed to Blaze, ‘is what I call my brother.’

‘I beg your pardon?’ Cherie asked. She felt numb but also relieved, yet she felt betrayed and embarrassed at the same time. Numerous of emotions washed over her in that minute.

Alex laughed, ‘Blaze is my brother, my goodness. My fiancée, Ryan, is on a business trip which is why he hasn’t been able to attend our meetings the past couple of appointments. He’ll be back in two weeks so Blaze won’t have to come to our meetings anymore. I guess it is my fault because I really never told you who my fiancée was. I just assumed that since you both knew each other, you would have known he was my brother.’

Cherie’s eyes were wide like saucers. It was an eerie silence until she spoke, ‘Then why has he been joining our meetings?’

Alex laughed, ‘Because I had no one to drive me. My girlfriends are all too busy with work or babysitting, and as said before my husband is out of town due to work so what’s left is my stupid brother. He wouldn’t drive me at first but I found a way to black mail him.’ She grinned devilishly. Blake rolled his eyes as he crossed his arms yet a small smirk played on his lips as he looked at Cherie.

Cherie’s thoughts were scattered all over the place. He’s not engaged. He’s not engaged! Why do I feel relieved? Why do I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders? This can’t be good. But he’s her brother!? How could I not have known? They look….some-what alike. Their noses, the ears… my gosh, I am retarded.

‘Give me a minute please…’ Cherie said as her fingers went to knead her temples.

Alex giggled, ‘sorry.’ She apologized. Blaze snorted. Cherie gasped and looked up,

‘That’s why you laughed so hard when I saw you this morning! You jerk! Why couldn’t you have told me that before to save me from this….this embarrassment!’ Cherie exclaimed, not even caring she was being impolite to her ‘client.’

Blaze chortled, ‘what fun would that be, babe?’ He winked which caused Cherie to grumble. Alex looked between the two,

‘What?’ Alex asked.

Cherie sighed as she continued to rub her temples, ‘I saw him this morning while I went for a run and long story short, I didn’t know why he was in the lobby of the apartment and asked why he wasn’t with his fiancée, which I thought was you and then he started to laugh.’

Alex glared at Blaze and then flicked his head, ‘What the heck is wrong with you, punk ass jerk? You could have had the decency to explain to her at that time! I apologize for his idiot behavior. I swear he was dropped on the head when he was a baby.’ Alex rolled her eyes as she apologized.

Cherie gave a small smile at the two, ‘I wish I had a sibling.’ She blurted out but quickly covered her mouth and gave off a nervous cough.

Blaze chuckled, ‘you do not want a sibling, I tell you.’

‘Why? I wish I had a big brother to protect me from all of the guys in my high school and university years…’ but she had Brody, her mind told her. Shut up! She squeezed her eyes shut.
