Chapter 4

| school and missions

The game was nothing short of a success. Other than the fact that the sun was hotter than all the netbal girls combined, it was an easy win. Kate had looked at me on our second quarter laughing at how Del Girls highschool was nothing she expected.

Although our team was strong, our thirty-two mark difference couldn't have come from our school's side only, their skills or rather lack thereof contributed to the mark.

So when Logan had ran down to me, flowers in hand. Everyone was cheering for us. Not because we looked like a couple of some sorts, but just because I had shot our last goal, and that Logan McCartney, captain of the rugby winning team was here, supporting netball.

"I didn't think it would be that easy for you Fers." he smiled, "Honestly, I was expecting things to get ugly."

"Yeah well it's the first game of the season, I'm sure it'll get harder soon." I took the flowers, Kate and the girls looking at me suggestively. I tried to ignore them, looking back to Logan.

I was thankful that my mom couldn't make it. She would be burning fresh flowers as we spoke. She could be exaggerative.

"Lover boy." Kate teased, placing an arm over his shoulders.

"Katherine." he acknowledged.

She glared at him "Full name bases I see. You look like you lost something, or is that just your face?"

"That was a great game Kate" Logan cut her off, oddly smiling at her. She looked shocked for the most part, but who wasn't. It was rare for these two to have a civilized conversation. They fought like cats and dogs.

"Thanks... Logan." She finally spoke.

"Except the only reason you won was because of Mary" he quickly added.

Kate snarled, earning a laugh from me. I wasn't wrong, they still hadn't had a civilized conversation.

"I knew you couldn't change you little-"

"I'm not little Kate." He cut her off once again, patting her head like a pet, "In any sense of the word," he winked.

"You're disgusting" she stared at him annoyed.

"And beautiful." Delane shouted from the group. He just laughed. I stared at the situation, wondering how their friendship had become so entertaining. It was as if they fed off each other's annoyance or maybe they had unknowingly began a 'who's the better best friend' contest.
