i reached for the ramen, which is on top of the shelf, but i had to tiptoe in order to get it.
it's a fail. i failed to get it.
when i stretched my arm a little further, a hand took it and gave it to me.
i was surprised, but still thankful. i don't want to look weird.
"thank you so much." i thanked the person. i lifted my head and saw someone i didn't expect to see again.
"fudo?"
he looked at me, smiling warmly. i blushed a little, he probably have been watching me struggling to take the ramen.
i lower my gaze to the floor, "have you been watching me struggling to take the ramen?" i asked, embarrassed.
he chuckled, petting my head. "yeah, it's cute seeing you struggle like that. glad i can help."
i put the ramen into the cart and walked towards the other shelf, with him at my side.
i elbowed his arm, "why are you still here?" i asked while examining the canned food i'm currently holding.
"i don't have anything better to do anyway, but i can keep you accompany." he answered while playing with the hem of his oversized hoodie.
i hummed in response, looking at the top of the shelf, sighing since it's tall for me to reach. i stretched my arm and attempted to take the milk.
i kept pulling it with my finger, i looked to my side. i saw fudo looking at another section.
geez, i wanted to ask him for help but i don't want to trouble him.
i let out a sigh and kept trying.
after seconds of trying, i finally got it.
not in a pretty way, since it's falling from it's original place.
i closed my eyes, expecting it to hit me or fell on the floor, causing it to spill everywhere.
i slowly opened my eyes, and saw fudo caught the milk in time with his hand, his eyes wide.
"that was close, are you okay?" he asked, giving me the bottle of milk.
i nodded in response, still shocked from what just happened.
-
i went to the counter, and the cashier scanned the items one by one.
"the total is 62716 won, cash or credit card?" the male cashier asked, while stuffing some of the items in a plastic bag.
"credit card."
i looked to my right, and saw fudo holding a credit card.
he put in the pin, and helped carrying some of the plastic bag.
"why would you do that? i can pay it myself." i asked, flustered.
he shrugged, and look at me. "it's not even that expensive, and i'm being nice." he answered casually, smirking at me knowing that he won.
i kept quiet, not knowing what to do.
"hey, i'll pay you back okay?" i broke the silence, looking at him desperately.
he ruffled my hair, "no, it's okay."
i sighed in defeat, he is so stubborn.
i snatched the plastic bags from his hand, causing him to flinch from my sudden action.
"my house is not that far now, thanks for helping me." i thanked him, struggling with the heavy plastic bags.
he scoffed, "oh silly, i have a car. i can drive you to your home." he said and snatched some of the plastic bags from my hand.
-
the hiphop music blasted from the radio, replacing the silence.
i looked outside, staring quietly, not wanting to interrupt him, since he's so focused on the road.
i looked at his side profile, and made me realize how perfectly shaped it is. god didn't make a single mistake while creating him.
"is there something on my face?" he asked, wiping his face with his sleeve.
i grinned, puffing my cheek. "nothing, don't worry." i reassured him, looking at the outside again.
i played with my fingers, "anyway, what's your real name?" i asked, curiously.
he tapped on the steering, "my name is not that important, just call me fudo." he answered my question, smiling.
i furrowed my eyebrows, "i have to know your real name, we are friends, aren't we?" i spoke, tapping on the seat.
he sighed, "i don't really feel like telling my real name. i'll keep it for later, darling."
i blushed from the nickname he called me, completely flattered. "w-what friends call them darling?" i asked.
he didn't answer my question, and instead kept quiet for the rest of the ride.
-
"this is my house, thanks fudo." i thanked him as i unlocked the seatbelt.
"friends that like their significant other." he muttered loud enough for me to hear.
"pardon?"
instead of answering my question, he drove off.
"hm, that was weird. goodbye i guess." i muttered, looking at his car slowly disappearing from my sight.
