Chapter 2
Surviving a double of maths then history, I finally make it to recess. Curious to see what sort of person the new ‘guy’ is April and I hurry to find Jack as he would get ticked off if we did something fun without him. Rushing to the locker room, we rush in to find Jack at his locker with a massive group surrounding the area.
“Jacko, what's going on?” April says as we walk up,
“Oh you know, being swarmed by a mob and not knowing why, the usual!” jack says exasperated.
“Well, who’s locker is it? Stacey? Tim?” I ask. Stacy and Tim are the “it” couple at our school. They have been going out for a few good years now.
“No, the locker was empty, that new kid must be using it now. Actually I bet he did something witty to hang out with Tim, Clarke or Samuel during class. Ah, I wonder where he moved from? Hmmm, I wonder if I'll ever get to my locker? Doubt it! Ahahaha!” Jack mumbles to us.
“Of course, he/she is already in with it all,” I roll my eyes.
“Ex-cuse me puh-lease coming through!” Jack says loudly, a path for him to force himself thru. “Hello there mate, I’m Jack, it appears that we are locker neighbours now, welcome!” we hear jack say to someone.
“I’m Harry, nice to meet you I guess, I'll probably see you around then,” a deeper husky voice answers back and walks off.
The crowd clears once they realise that the new and shiny special new kid has left and it’s just boring old Jack, April and Grace. We walk up to Jack who is putting his books into his locker (into alphabetical order of course).
“Jackio bro what is he like?” I say.
“I’m assuming it was a he from his incredibly sexy deep husky voice,” April says dreamingly.
“Snap out of it girl,” I say clicking my hands in front of her face, “He is probably just another rude boy we are going to have to ignore for a couple more years of our lives just like a lot of this school.”
“You’ve set your mind up that everyone here is evil or something,” Jack laughs, “But seriously chill Gracie we got one year left after this there’s no point wasting our time talking about the incredibly dumb stupid bimbo percentage of popular high school students, just move on ‘kay?”
“…Yeah sure, whatever floats your boat Jackie mateo.” I flick away his comment with my hands. I can stress and bitch as much as I want.
“Anyways what did he look like? Was he dreamy?” April asks giggly.
“Gasp April seriously my gag reflex is about to turn on!” I yell jokingly.
“Gals, calm your farms, he was good looking I guess in a way, maybe, if I was a girl I might fancy him,” Jack says.
“Alright then, moving on, why don’t we go to the picnic table eh? I think we should give Lily a call, I might have some credit left I think,” I say as we start walking out the locker room towards the front of the oval. Our school is set out strange; they’ve obviously tried, way too hard, to make it seem like a lovely place with these gorgeous gardens out the front barricaded with a sweet looking fence made out of a deep grey metal, melded into intriguing patterns. Yet past the beautiful front lies another area, a normal dump of a school. Concrete everywhere; buildings, floor, walls and the infamous basketball court positioned in the middle of the circular 3 storey classroom building. Oh that basketball court is where all the ‘cool’ guys hang, the concrete steps surrounding it is where all the ‘pretty and hot’ girls sit acting like they don’t care and that they aren’t purposely flicking their blonde hair to gain male attention. Stupid, blonde bimbos with their loyal pets, oh did I say pets? I meant their loyal friends. Personally, I prefer the gardens, where real things exist. Such as the multitudes of flowers and bushes, but what we love the most it that they’ve put in these super comfy picnic tables for the school students. To put it simply, we rule the picnic tables, nicely of course, but the picnic tables belong to us and everyone knows.
“Are my eyes serving me correctly? That is our table who is sitting there?” Jack grumbles bitchily.
“Jack calm down its probably just Jenna, wait that’s the new kid! Jack, Grace code red! Here we come, boy you chose the wrong table to sit on…” April says, her face getting eviler by the second.
“C’mon darl, take it easy,” I say and April sends a death glare at me to say, that’s not going to happen, “Fine then, straighten him out, at least do it slightly nicely.” I say giving in. Knowing April, she doesn’t ever give in to absolutely anything. If she decides she's wants it, its virtually hers, as you’d have to be stupid to attempt to resist her.
“Hi there, it’s Harry right?” April says sweetly, walking up to our table and sitting down. Harry looks completely puzzled with this mysterious girl coming up to him, though I must agree I would be slightly scared as April’s purple tipped bob is unique by itself but when you add in her beanie, bright blue eyes and her dark eyeliner she seems quite tough. I know better and so does Jamie, the lad sitting with Harry. Jamie knows though how swiftly April’s moods and behaviour can change after she caught him cheating with Miranda, while they were going out last year.
“Erm, yes I am Harry, um who are you?” Harry says with confusion to very obvious on his face. Harry has a large amount curls plopped onto of his head, I guess some would say that is attractive or ‘hot’ but to me I don't find it any pretty than someone wearing a mop on their head. Just saying.
“Jamie, darling why don't you introduce me? You know me well enough, Jamzy boy.” April says turning her sweet innocent glare to Jamie who pales visually before speaking.
“Well Harry this is April, April this is Harry.” Jamie says quickly.
“Hello April,” Harry says, still confused he turns to Jamie, “Jamie how do you know April?”
“Well, she’s my ex, we broke up ages ago don’t worry,” Jamie whispers to Harry.
“Care to share why we broke up Jamie?” April says her voice getting icier as she speaks.
“’Cause I um hooked um Miranda um yeah,” Jamie mumbles. Harry’s eyes widened. Poor boy april is going to smash him for just sitting here.
“Look, Jamie your rude and I hate you, but I don’t know why you are sitting on our table, or why you are still here?” April says. Jamie sighs and gets up, Harry quickly gets up and starts to follow him.
“Oh Harry, I am very sorry we had to get off to such a bad start, I am normally a nice person, seriously, but Jamie never ever said sorry for that, you know? We went out for 3 years since year 7 then he cheats on me and doesn’t say a single sorry. I have some unfinished business with him but I don’t see how we can’t be friends if you ever need someone to talk to um I know give me your phone and you can have my number!” April says quickly, Harry hands his phone over clearly amused by her fiery spirit. April hands back his phone slowly, that girl is playing so many minds games at once I doubt its fair on the poor guy.
“April seriously let the poor chap go,” I say as I walk over from my viewing point a couple of metres away under a tree.
“Well who are you?” Harry turns to ask me, I can feel his eyes checking me out as I walk over
“I’m Grace, I’d appreciate it if you stopped looking at me, Jack come over, Harry is just leaving,” I say.
“Well how about your number?” Harry asks winking.
“How about no?” I retort.
“Okay then, nice bow by the way,” Harry says.
“Thanks,” I say to his back as he walks away to join Jamie.
“The table is ours once again! Mwahahah!” April mock evilly.
Got to love school!
