Chapter 47: Foster License Part 1!

     Emily had her head in her hands as she sat on the couch. Aaron ran in with Jack at his side and Emily looked up and locked eyes with him. His face showed worry and she stood up and faced him, hoping there was a case so she can distract her mind for a day. Aaron sighed in relief and walked up and hugged her. Emily pulled away and looked at him curiously. "What's going on, Aaron?" Emily asked. "The whole team has been calling you, I was worried sick." Aaron replied and Emily sighed. "I'm sorry, I-I had some issues here and I haven't even looked at my phone." Emily apologized. "I'm just glad you're okay." Aaron told her and she laughed. "I can see that." Emily commented and Aaron gave a small smile. "Yeah." Aaron agreed. Emily frowned and looked at him. "What's the matter?" Emily asked and he sighed. "Maeve is in the hospital." Aaron replied. "Oh my gosh! What happened?" Emily asked. "Just normal pregnancy stuff, I think." Aaron replied and Emily sighed in relief. "I'm just glad she's okay." Emily commented as she sat back down. He nodded as he sat next to her. "Me too, Reid was a wreck." Aaron told her. "I bet." Emily agreed. There was a moment of silence as Aaron turned his head to look at his fiance. "What was going on here?" Aaron asked. Emily sighed as she looked down. "Declan's gone." Emily replied. "Why? They didn't think that you could take care of him?" Aaron asked and she sighed as she looked up and met his eyes. "No, I might be able to get him back. I just need to get a Foster license until I'm able to adopt him, so he can stay in my care." Emily replied and he nodded. "Then that's what we'll do." Aaron told her. She sighed as she looked away from him. "I don't know." Emily told him. He put his hand on her thigh and she looked back over to her. "What do you mean?" Aaron asked. "I'm not mother material." Emily replied. "Why would you say that?" Aaron asked. "Because I'm not exactly nurturing. I just never thought I would be a good mother." Emily replied. "Why?" Aaron asked. Emily sighed as she stood up. "It's not important." Emily replied and Aaron stood up as well. "Em." Aaron commented. "Good night." Emily told him and she walked up the stairs.
   Spencer opened his eyes and lifted his head. He had fallen asleep in a chair next to Maeve's hospital bed. He was holding her hand and his head was on the edge of the her bed. Maeve smiled at him and he smiled back, noticing that she was awake. "How long have you been up?" Maeve asked. "A while. I was just watching you sleep, you looked exhausted." Maeve replied and Spencer laughed. "Yeah, I-I was." Spencer told her and she laughed too. "I could tell." Maeve agreed. "Before that I was watching you sleep, and you looked calm and peaceful. It was soothing." Spencer told her and she grinned. "I feel fine, Spence. There's no need to worry." Maeve told him. "You know me." Spencer commented. "I do, I do know you. But it's just normal pregnancy stuff, and I'll be fine after a little bed rest." Maeve told him and he nodded. "I hope so.... Maybe moving right now isn't the best idea." Spencer told her. "I thought you wanted a bigger place for our future?" Maeve asked. "I do, and we will. But it doesn't have to be now. Our twins can share a room for the first few years, and we don't know if we'll ever have any more kids." Spencer replied and she nodded. "You're right, this is fine for now. We just need us and our kids." Maeve told him and he smiled.
     Aaron was fast asleep, but Emily was still awake and it was pretty late. She sighed as she got out of the bed and left her room. Then Jack walked up to her. "Hi, Emily." Jack greeted and Emily smiled at him. "Aren't you suppose to be in bed when it's this late?" Emily asked. "Yes, but I wanted to talk to you." Jack replied and Emily nodded. "Okay." Emily agreed. "I overheard you and dad talking earlier." Jack told her and she sighed. "That's sweet, Jack. I know you're just trying to help, but this is between me and your dad." Emily told him. She turned around and started walking away. "I think you'll be a great mom." Jack told her. She stopped walking and turned back around to face him. "What?" Emily asked. "You are a great mom." Jack replied. "But I'm not even a mom yet." Emily told him. "Maybe not by blood or even adoption yet, but you've been like a mom to me." Jack told her and she grinned. "Are you serious?" Emily asked and he smiled. "Yeah, you've been amazing." Aaron replied. "I kind of think of you as a son." Emily told him. "That makes me happy." Jack told her. "Me too." Emily agreed. "Goodnighyh, Emily." Jack told her. "Goodnight, Jack." Emily told him and Jack walked back into his room as she smiled.
     Emily was sitting on a ledge by the window. She had a blanket over her as she looked up in the sky. She heard a noise and knew who it was as she smiled. He walked up to her and she saw his reflection through the mirror. "Hey." Aaron greeted and Emily smiled as she turned to face him. "Hi." Emily greeted. "Are you okay?" Aaron asked. "I am now." Emily replied and he nodded. "That's good." Aaron commented. Emily took off the blanket and stood up as she faced him. "Jack told me that I'm like a mother to him." Emily told him. "That's sweet." Aaron commented. "I realized that I can be a good mom." Emily told him. "Of course you are!" Aaron exclaimed. "Truth be told, because of how my mom neglacted me and treated me, I thought I would be just like her. But Jack and Declan showed me that I'm not." Emily told him and he smiled. "So you're doing this?" Aaron asked. "Yes. I'm getting my foster license first thing in the morning." Emily replied and Aaron smiled as they hugged and he kissed the top of her head.
