Sorry its a little short, I have 2 finals tomorrow and I'm slightly losing my mind.
I woke up the next morning, unsure of when David would want me to head back to Chicago. I mean, what he asked me to come here and do is already done, so I'm sure he'd want me to head back reasonably soon. Plus I don't want to feel like I'm invading his space.
I decide to give Shawn a call, however, it doesn't get picked up, which I can say doesn't completely surprise me. It is still only 10 in Chicago, and he doesn't work today, so my guess is he decided to sleep in.
I head out to the living room and lay down on the couch when my phone vibrates.
Corinna: Want to grab lunch today?
Natalie: Sure!!
Corinna: Okay we'll pick you up at 12!
We?
I wonder who else is coming.
I click out of the messaging app, and click Angry Birds, one of my all time favorite games.
I know, its old. Fight me.
Before I even realize it, David comes sauntering out with his red blanket around him. I sit up and feel my bones crack, making me wonder how long I've been playing now.
I click out of the game and see it's now 10:30, which shocks me but I mean, it is a great game.
"Good morning," I greet.
"How'd you sleep?" He asks, plopping down on the other couch.
"I slept great. You?"
"I haven't slept that good in a long time," He smiles, which makes me happy.Just from what I've seen, he takes his job incredibly seriously, and ends up missing out on a lot of much needed sleep. So to see some of his eye bags disappear is relieving.
"What're your plans for the day?" I ask, wondering if he'll mention something about when I'm going to have a flight home.
"I'm not sure I think I'm filming a few things with Jason. You're more than welcome to join," He says looking up from his phone for a second.
"Thanks for the offer. Corinna asked me to go to lunch," I start.
"I may start looking at flights home as well," I say, causing his head to shoot up.
"So soon? Do you not like it here?" He looks nervously, which makes me feel bad.
"No I love it here. I just don't want to intrude," I admit."Natalie are you serious? You're far from intruding," He says, the truth evident in his eyes, which both warms my heart and makes me feel better.
"Well you're more than generous for letting me stay here," I speak truthfully, and he just nods with his cheeky grin.
"Believe it or not, even though there's always people here, it gets lonely living here alone," He says looking into his backyard. It was very cinematic."Have you found a job?" He asks after a couple of minutes of silence and I sigh.
"I wish. I've tried searching but I'm not sure where I want to live. I just know I need to get out of Chicago," I explain.
"What do you want to do?"
"I have no clue. I mean I was a business major," I explain.
"Well I don't know if you're interested, but I've been thinking of getting an assistant," He implies, which sort of shocks me.
"Thanks David, but I don't think I could afford any housing in LA. I really do appreciate the offer though it's really sweet,"
"Oh nonsense. You could live here. I know you just decorated the guest room, but you can make it yours," He says as though it's the most simple thing in the world."Are you serious?" I ask and he nods.
"Of course I'm serious,"
"How do you even know if I'd be good at it?" I question reasonably. I mean, how does he even know if I'd be able to get the things done that he wants done?"Natalie, the only thing I'm concerned about is things getting done quickly. And seeing as how you completely redid my house in less than 2 days is definitely quick," He explains even though I'm still slightly skeptical.
"Natalie just take the job. If you don't like if, you're free to quit whenever. It won't affect our friendship," He explains, coming over to sit on the couch with me.
He was reading my mind because that was exactly what I was worried about. We've been friends for so long, I wouldn't want it to get ruined because of something so stupid. But I end up giving into his puppy dog eyes that he has come to master.
"Okay," I sigh and he jumps up, pulling me up with him.
"Yay!!" He exclaims like a little kid, causing me to laugh and start jumping with him.
We're interrupted by my phone buzzing, which is Corinna letting me know she's on my way.
"I have to go get ready, Corinna's on her way," I say while starting to walk back into the guest room, or I guess now my room."Okay, employee," He jokes, winking at me and I roll my eyes, continuing my way back to the room.

She's officially working for David!!!
