I look out the window, watching the raindrops fall in unison with my tears. The lightning outside distracts me from my thoughts for a moment. I watch the bright light dance across the dark sky. I hear the front door creak open, obviously by my dad who works 90% of the day. I check my clock and see 12:37pm dance across the screen. I shut off my lamp and lay in bed. My dad creaks the door open and looks at me and mumbles Your pill? He looks down at the yellow medication in his hand. He studies my face as I grab the sleeping pill and the glass of water. I need out, I need to run. I think to myself. I put the pill under my tougue and gulp down water, I open my mouth so he can check that I took it. He smiles and walks out. As soon as the door closes i spit out the now melted pill, and slip on black sweats and black running shoes. I find the small piece of cardboard I put under my bed 2 days ago. My arms struggle to get my window open, but eventually it opens. I then slip out the window, finding the faulty brick that sticks out more than the others. I have never done this in rain, so I clench the window and pull it down slowly. I stick the piece of cardboard under the window before it goes all the way down, leaving just the right amount of space for my skinny fingers. Once I am stablized on the brick, I jump off my house. My shoulder takes all the impact as I roll in the grass. I silently curse and rub my shoulder. I look up at the stormy sky and let the rain fall on my blonde hair. FInally, I let my legs patter on the wet sidewalk as I sprint.
