The Princess's Secret

  The young princess held her panda companion in her lap. She had expected the question to be asked, of course. She just didn't know how to answer without sounding desperate, or frightened. Though, she was feeling both. The child wanted nothing more than to be in the protection of her parents.
    She looked up at her two friends, who both were expecting an answer. She took a breath, calmed her nerves and began yo explain.

"There's these bad guys... They're called the Two Scars, I think. They're after me for something that I've never told anyone outside my Kingdom before."

"And... What's that?" Sofia asked. Though, the older princess looked concerned.

   Princess Annabelle sighed, debating on whether to tell her secret or not. Deciding it would be best, she faced her friends once again.

"I have magic. Healing magic. It comes from my tears when I cry. I've had my royal doctor and my royal sorceress examine me by order of my parents to investigate why, and what it can do. Though they say I can use it beyond my tears, I haven't figured out how to use it by will."

   Lucas had a puzzled look. "Wow... But how did the Two Scars know you have that kind of power?"

   Princess Annabelle looked away, as if avoiding his question. Princess Sofia spoke up.

"It's ok, Annabelle. You don't have tell us," Sofia leaned toward the child and placed her hand softly on her shoulder. "You came to Enchancia for help, so that's what you'll receive. It will all be over soon and you can go back to your parents after its over. Just think of this as..." The lavender clad princess searched her mind for a few seconds. "As a big sleepover. We'll play games and I know how much you like school!"

The small princess's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Yeah! We can play hide and seek or charades!"

Lucas smiled. It looked like a weight has been lifted off his new friend's shoulders.

  The rest of the tea party was lighthearted. Sofia and Annabelle told Lucas some old memories and Sofia and Lucas told the child about how they will be ice dancing in a few weeks, even offering to teach Princess Annabelle. She smiled sweetly and accepted. For now, she did not have to fear for her life.
