"Get out of here you nasty feline!"

"You don't belong here!"

"You shouldn't exist!"

"You're a disgrace to the human race!"

These were all of the cruel and harsh words thrown at the girl. Yes, she was different because she was a Neko. Her parents weren't neko at all, but her great grandmother on her mothers side was, and her mother was a carrier of the neko genetics. After (y/n) was born, the town found out not long after, and started sending threats to her parents, telling them to abandon her and carry on with their lives as normal humans.

The (h/c) found herself now hiding in an alleyway, cuddling inside of the hoodie she only had left to remember her parents by. Her (h/c) ears flattened to her cranium as she felt the warm and salty tears beginning to flow down her cheeks as she remembered what had happened to her family as if it were only yesterday.

-Flashback-

(y/n)'s parents had just placed her to bed. The eight year old had cuddled up with her favorite stuffed (f/a) and was dozing on and off for a good two or three hours. She had awoken when her enhanced scent glands smelled something off. She left her bedroom, going downstairs to only be met with raging orange, yellow and red flames. She hissed in fear and ran to her parents bedroom, trying to open the door but found it impossible due to the burning metal knob. She tried to think of something quickly, and ran back to her room, grabbing the sweatshirt her dad had gotten her a few sizes too big and used the sleeve to open the door.

What she had seen next, she will never forget. Her parents were burned on the bed, their skin had been charred and they were burned to a state of not being recognized. Her instincts took over. As she ran to the back door and out the back yard, she ran to the front of the house to search for help, but only found three or four adults laughing with gas in their hands. She couldn't help but over hear what they were cheering about.

"Ha! If they had only gotten rid of her sooner, they wouldn't be burning now."

"Ashamed, they were fairly good people. But they never listen. At least now our children won't be exposed to that freak of nature."

"I agree, I hope they-"

That's all (y/n) wanted to hear. Tears formed in her eyes as she ran as far as her legs could carry her. She ran into a nearby alley way and crawled into a large cardboard box, curling up with what was left of her parents and cried herself to sleep.

-End Flashback-

(y/n) Sighed, standing up and kept her ears low, pulling the hoodie up over her ears and kept her tail from sight. If no one saw her ears and tail, they would probably think she was a normal person. At least she was right with that aspect.

She decided to walk to a nearby tea house, taking a seat at one of many vacant tables on the outside. The waitress came outside to get her order, as she only wanted water, seeing as how that was free anyway. She sighed, waiting for her glass to come back as she noticed a blonde sitting across from her. She jumped a bit in her chair, resisting the urge to hiss at him for scaring her.

"Ah, sorry about that love.. I guess I should have asked first. Mind if I sit here? The other tables are full.." He asked, his eyes glancing over at the tables around them and sure enough, they were full. When did that happen?

"Oh, uh. No, it's fine. You can sit there." She said, avoiding his gaze in hopes he didn't know she wasn't really a full human.

"Thanks. Mind if I ask why you have a hoodie on? It's nearly 98 degrees out here. Aren't you burning in it?" He asked, after telling the waitress his order of earl grey tea.
