Chapter 11

Around noon the next day Sera and Aiden met at Forsyth Park to talk. 

Reylen sat in her own car, but still in uniform. She was there for Sera's protection of course. Even though eyes of a spy were watching the car and the couple. 

"It's kind of a nice day." Aiden started, feeling awkward. He knew this time was limited and she had to go back. He was fighting with this emotions. 

"Yeah it is . . ." Sera trailed off and watched his face sink and squint in deep pain. "I love you too," She ended and touched his hand. 

Aiden's tear filled eyes looked up at her and then the tears burned as they ran down his angry cheeks. "This is so unfair!" 

"Life is uncertain and unfair to all of us, Aiden. I guess that is why we are given it to try and find happiness within the time given to us." Sera said and took her hand away. "I don't want to die all over again either. I'm terrified." 

"Maybe I can make another wish on the stone? Maybe it'll help somehow." He said. 

Sera shook her head. "Grimmstone's don't work that way. It's only to resurrect the dead."

He moved fast and quick from behind a tree at full speed and grabbed Sera from behind. Sera couldn't scream out because a big hand was over her mouth. 

Aiden jumped up in shock. "Shawn, let her go!" 

Sera's brother held her tight. "Can't do that, Crowe. The parent's are waiting for us." 

Reylen had been watching the whole time she slowly moved with her gun raised. "Back off, let her go." 

"Nope, not gonna happen. Shoot me if you have to." Shawn told the cop. 

Aiden started after them, but felt the cool metal rounded tip of another gun. "Stay put and you won't get hurt." He knew that voice. Aiden fell sideways and locked his legs around the other persons to make them fall as well. The gun went off into the air and it thudded on the ground. 

Reylen went after Shawn and Sera. 

Aiden and William fought each other until William was unconscious from a kick to the face. 

Aiden kicked the gun into a bush before running to catch up with Reylen.

Sera had cuts and bruises on her from Shawn fighting with her. He had her by her ankles dragging her. 

"Let her go!" Reylen screamed out. 

"Shawn! Listen to me!" Sera screamed at her brother. "I love you and you know I have to go. I know our parents told you everything. I don't belong on earth anymore. Please, please let me go." 

Shawn stopped dragging his sister, but still held her ankles. "I miss you. I have you back now. I can keep you alive." 

Sera shook her head. "I don't want that, Shawn. I just want to be a free spirit and watch over all of you." 

Shawn broke, he sank to his knees and cried in Sera's arms. 

"I need to arrest him, Sera." Reylen said and reached out to help Shawn up. He refused to let his sister go. 

"Please, don't do that." Sera hugged her brother to her. "Do me a favor and leave. Go home and mourn with mom and dad. Be there for each other."

Shawn looked at everyone around him. They looked just as upset and sad as he was. "Sera, I need you here." 

"And I need you to take care of our parents and grandmother. It's what I need. That's my biggest wish, Shawn, to have all of you love and care for each other." Sera's face was wet with tears now. 

"This is goodbye?" Shawn's voice cracked as he stood up. 

He helped Sera stand up. "For now, yes, I'm sorry it has to be this way." She hugged him tight and he ran off without looking back. 

Reylen went ahead of them making sure the other boy wasn't anywhere lurking around. 

"My stomach hurts." Sera complained as a hunger pain struck her core. 

"You know why, right?" Aiden said, "I can give you my soul and you can live a little longer." 

Sera refused, "Never. I can't do that." 

" . . . but I can." Aiden grabbed her face and kissed her deeply. 

Sera struggled to free herself from him.

Reylen looked back to see what was happening. 

Sera was horrified by what he'd done. "He kissed me!" She cried to Jen. "Aiden, where's the stone?" 

He looked lost as he looked at her. "I love you." He said before he fainted. 

"No, no, no!" Sera fell to her knees and searched him as quickly as possible. "He doesn't have it with him!" 

Reylen felt for his pulse and it was weak. 

Sera got his cell phone and called Angelle. She explained what was going on as best as possible. 

Angelle looked through Aiden's drawers and found the stone in a rolled up sock.

"Now destroy it!" Sera ordered her. 

Angelle didn't want to.

"Angelle he's dying! You have to destroy the stone now!" Sera yelled into his phone. 

Angelle stared at the stone in her hand. If her brother died then he could eventually be with Sera in a month or two. She'd miss him, but he'd be happier with her, right? 

Cora came into the bedroom. "Angelle, please give it to me." 

"How'd you get in?" She yelled at the woman. 

Cora spoke softly, "A hidden key is sometimes all you need." She showed it to her. "Aiden told me where to find this days ago. Now, your brother is barely hanging on. Do you really want to lose him like this?" 

Of course not. She wanted what was best for him. "Sera and Aiden belong together." 

"Your family will be just as broken as Sera's if you don't hand over the Grimmstone." Cora told her. 

That was the one thing she had not thought about - Her parents. Their feelings and reactions to the death of her beloved brother.

Cora took the stone from the sock and hurried to the kitchen. "I need something heavy, child. A hammer of some sort." 

Angelle dug through a few kitchen drawers and held up a meat tenderizer, "Will this work?" 

Cora took it from her and hit the stone hard with it and it cracked. She hit it several more times to make it into pieces. 

Aiden was still and quiet. Sera and Jen sat with him. "I can't believe he'd do this." Sera said as a wave of pain slammed into her chest. She felt like she'd been struck once again by the same car. "Ouch! Damn it that hurts!" 

Jen saw movement from Aiden. "Sera, something is happening." She gestured at Aiden. The rise and slow fall of his chest meant change. 

"Thank you for everything." She told Jen before kissing Aiden's forehead. "I'll love you forever." 

Aiden heard her voice as she took her last breath. He sat up as she fell to the ground. 

"What's going on? I thought I saved her!" He cried out. 

Reylen's phone went off and she looked to see a text message from Angelle. "The stone has been destroyed."
