A/N: Oops, looks like we're stuck here until all the snow blows over...
_

Scott had no idea what he was doing. For the past hour he'd been gelling his hair and messing it up again, trying to settle on a look but being unable to decide. Maybe his hair did look better when it was messy? Ugh, screw it, it looked as if he hadn't put any effort into his appearance. But what would his date prefer?

Scott sighed in frustration. He had no idea what his date would or wouldn't prefer, he didn't even know what he looked like! He knew his name, and that was all. He knew that Mitch, that was his name, loved fashion. Fashion and music. He was studying to become a fashion designer but sang at bars on week ends. Scott would love to hear him sing. He imagined his voice so soft. Soft and clear and warm. But enough fantasizing for now! He was already late.

Scott checked his phone - it was ten past five and with the amount of snow laying on the ground there was no way Scott would be able to drive safely, so he had to walk all the way downtown to the Coffee Bean, a small, cozy, almost unknown coffee shop that Scott had suggested for their first date. He had always picked up his coffee here early in the morning when he was still in high school and it had always been his favorite part of the day. He was beyond excited to be able to share this place with someone else.

With one last brush through his hair he finally settled on the messy look. He grabbed his coat and scarf from the hanger and wrapped himself up in layers and layers of warm clothing before he finally ventured outside.

It was even colder than he'd anticipated! He took out his phone and checked the weather app - only 5 degrees were displayed and Scott hoped he wouldn't turn into an icicle before he arrived at his destination. But a warm coffee would be sure to unfreeze him.

There was nobody to be seen on the streets, not even cars, just empty, white streets and closed doors. If he were to bet he was the only person outside in this town, he would probably win. Well, except for Mitch. Hopefully.

His phone buzzed and speaking of the devil - it was actually Mitch and Scott's heart sank the moment he realized that Mitch probably wanted to cancel because of the bad weather. He still typed on the notification to make sure.

Mitch: Hey! I'm sorry but I'm probably gonna be late, my car won't turn on. See you x

Oh. Okay. Scott released the deep breath he's been holding. So Mitch wasn't cancelling. He couldn't help but smile in relief when he typed out the answer.

Scott: Hey, Mitchy! Don't worry. Stay safe, take care!

It wasn't really Scott's thing to put an x after every message, but he appreciated it anyways and it warmed his heart to know that Mitch obviously liked him in a way.

With every step his eyes started to water more and his nose felt like it was going to fall off. The more he walked towards downtown, the colder it felt. He checked his weather app once again, frowning when it was down to zero degrees when it had been five more only minutes prior. Scott was sure this was the coldest it had ever been in the city. But still, he was determined to get to his date on time, even if it meant he had to wait for Mitch.

He reached the first stores, but by now it was snowing so much he could barely see further than a few feet ahead. Should he go inside of a store and wait? For sure, that would be the smartest thing to do. The freezing air was burning in his throat, making it hard to breathe. As much as he was excited for the date, he knew he couldn't keep going. He could wait a few minutes to warm himself up, and maybe the snow would stop.

The moment he stepped into the store it felt like he walked against a wall of heat; the difference in temperature was so big it actually made him dizzy for a few seconds, but once it wore off he realized that he'd just walked into actual Winter Wonderland. If he didn't know better he would say it was Santa's workshop, there were Christmas decorations everywhere, from LED candy canes to the most unique ornaments, if you needed anything you would be sure to find it here. His favorite band's cover of Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree was playing on the radio to make everything even more festive than it already was.
