Kaiden Rileys was a young boy who stood at 4'6. He had turtle green eyes and messy brownish blonde hair that couldn't seem to decide what color it wanted to be. He was just recently fourteen and boy was he excited. Although, there never seemed to be a time that he wasn't.
Now, Kaiden never knew of the people who ditched him and ran, better known as his parents. The boy was raised and cared for by a girl. A seventeen-year-old girl with wavy red hair that fell to her waist, her eyes were a piercing blue and her smile could lighten anyone's day. She stood at 5'8, almost towering over the boy she saw as a brother.
Kaiden and Macey lived in a bunker with the groups of teens who rebelled. Every day started off the same and the morning of October 31st was no exception. Kaiden was sitting on the counter, wide awake by 6:30 while Macey was still passed. The young teen boy was scribbling in his new notebook. It was made of thin leather with bright and clean pages. Kaiden had a very scrambled mind and Macey had given him the notebook as a way to keep track of things, and he did!
It wasn't until 9:30 that the red haired teen finally hauled herself out of bed. She dawned a fresh and new looking Alice In Wonderland dress as she made her tired entrance into the kitchen "Your in a dress." Kaiden observed as he held out a pink and purple mug of coffee for Macey "Thanks kid." The teen mumbled with a yawn "Its from a fairytale, Its my costume for school." The boy nodded as his green eyes inspected the dress, carefully hand sewn by Macey "What fairytale? Can you read it to me?" He questioned with a slight head tilt . The girl grinned brightly as he brushed her fingers through the young boy's hair "Of course we can, I'll make sure to escape the Halloween parties and we'll read it." She promised as she messed around with a radio she had rewired, looking for the song that started off every morning "What parties? You don't get invited to parties! Your always here with me!" Kaiden gigged as he swung his legs slightly againt the counter. Macey laughed "Little shit!" She grinned as she started the song. Let her go by Passenger to be exact "Quiet time!" She announced at the song started. Kaiden complained and giggled through the song as Macey twirled around singing. It was about 8:00 that night when Kaiden flopped on the couch in a unicorn shirt and green pajama pants, next to Macey who wore a pink and purple onesie. She laid one arm around the boy she saw as a little brother, as her other arm held the clean copy of Alice and Wonderland. She opened the book and read to Kaiden, the boy just listening in amazement to what was already becoming his favorite fairytale yet.
By the time the story had ended, Kaiden had decided he wanted to be just like Alice, her adventure sounded breath taking to the boy. Macey pulled a blue blanket around them both as Kaiden peacfully rested his head on the inside of her shoulder as she turned on the Alice in Wonderland movie. Kaiden watched the movie with full attetion until half way through, he mumbled to Macey "Can I wear your Alice dress?" He asked, eyes not once leaving the screen. Macey just laughed "Of course kid." She grinned tiredly, starting to doze off while Kaiden contently kept his green eyes locked on the screen.
This was the way of life that the boy knew, bunkers and hiding. Everything was dystroyed in the world around them but Macey, being the tinkerer that she was, tried to make everything normal. The small TV was something she had thrown together, it never worked very long and more often then not, it would cut out and frizz but it worked. The 'couch' was pillows she would throw against a dirt wall. She did her best to normilize and shelter the boy from the wreck of the word. And she did a good job..mostly.
