"Evelyn"
Great, I thought sarcastically.
"Why won't you just start, huh? I asked and put my head on the steering wheel in resignation.
Talking to my car probably wasn't going to make it start but i was already late and honestly willing to try literally anything. There was no time left to waste. I've spent quite a while with this piece of crap.
"Public transport it is then" I muttered under my breath collecting my belongings from the car.
Bus stop was five minutes away and i had no time to spare so i ran. I'd wanted to make a good first impression. Now i just hoped not to get labeled as irresponsible. Teachers are supposed to be role models for students. Being late is not a good way to fulfill this expectation.
"Sorry, excuse me, sorry" I shouted while dodging one person after another.
Almost there, I thought. I hated being in a hurry, it's just not healthy. Yet i knew i was the only one to blame. Should've known the car wouldn't cooperate, it hardly ever does.
The bus was already there. Made it just in time. Considering where it departured from it was almost crowded. Almost. There was an older lady with a dog and a man reading a newspaper. Then, just before the door closed, one more person got in, a woman. I couldn't see her face because she was wearing a hood. She sat next to a window in a seat the furthest away from other people. I didn't mean to stare, I simply had nothing better to do a the moment. Or so I've been telling myself.
The woman'd taken out some sort of a notebook from her bag and then took off her hood. I nearly gasped out loud. She was young, very young. Her hair was slightly damp, probably from the shower she must have taken not that long ago. She was so beautiful in that natural way, she didn't even wear makeup. Big dark brown eyes was a feature of her that from distance outstanded the most. She put her head against a bus window and started to scriblle in that notebook of hers. Not once did she look my direction. She appeared to be so lost in her own thoughts. It seemed as if the world no longer existed for her.
It won't exist at least for a couple more minutes, I thought. I enjoyed watching her. From time to time she would smile unwittingly and at those moments i felt most captivated by the view. I wish i knew what she was writing. A diary perhaps?
Everyone on the bus was silent. The only thing I could hear was the sound of the engine. We were getting closer and closer to the school and I started to feel weirdly disappointed.
Soon enough she will be gone and I'll never see her again. Guess that's supposed to be the best part of it. This strange thing. Sometimes you just see a person you don't know that makes your day in a way. You think about this person for a while and then you forget all about them, I thought.
Finally the bus came to a stop. I peeked outside the window to see if I'm in the right place and by the time I turned my gaze back to the girl's seat, it was already empty.
