I went straight to Jesy, determined to get more information about Perrie. She might not know much about her but she was going to help me discover the truth, whether she liked it or not.
"Hey you!"I tapped her shoulder, making her turn her head to me.She was in the main room, which was basically a cafeteria, sitting on one of the tables and talking to her friends.
"What's up?"She asked calmly, folding her arms around her chest.I did the same, looking straight into her eyes."I need your help."
She raised an eyebrow and gave me a smirk, scanning me from head to toe before speaking"And why is that, may I ask?"She asked with a posh accent.
I rolled my eyes"You're the only one I trust in here."I admitted and she grinned."I need to find out the truth about Perrie.Because I'm telling you something is going on and I don't like the feelings I get."
She got off the table and stood in front of me."Look girl, you're up to no good. And I like that. But I'm not taking any chances for you and your little friend."
She turned around while I stood still, not moving at all"I'm not going to beg you."I let her know before turning around too and making a few steps forward.
"Wait!"
I smirked to myself and turned around to Jesy who was walking towards me."Fine.I'll help you just because I'm bored and these morons don't know what having fun means.Do you have a plan?"
"Not yet but give me a few hours."
I went into my room, took out a notebook that I had brought with me thinking I could use as a journal, and started making connections.I did not have many clues but I had motivation.
The door opened and Abigail dashed in.I was quick to hide the notebook under my pillow.
"Film time."She announced, grabbing me by the arm and pulling me up."Huh?"I asked confused. She sighed, pushing me out of the room."You'll see."
I noticed that more patients were being taken to another room along with me.The room was dark and it looked a bit like a cinema.I was asked to take a seat and I did so.A few minutes later the door was closed and a film started playing. It was about anorexia.
By the end of the film I was shocked and speechless. It did have an impact on me but it was a negative one.The short film we were forced to watch was horrific. It seemed like I was the only one who didn't find it okay because the others were just starring blankly at the screen.
When we were let out I went to the cafeteria, looking for Jesy.I noticed her ginger looks as soons as I entered the room.
"Jesy I've been traumatised!"I stated, taking a seat on the table's bench. She laughed, playing with an apple."Film time?"So she did know what I was talking about.I nodded and she sighed, taking a bite of the apple."Yeah it's their way of making people better.I personally believe they just want to get inside our minds, making us their puppets."
"Okay we don't have time for this now.Have you seen Perrie today?Apparently I'm not allowed to get inside her room."I rolled my eyes at the memory of that woman kicking me out of Perrie's room.Jesy shook her head and gave me a questioningly look."Wait why wouldn't you be allowed to get in her room?I did get in yours and no one complained. And I pay visits to more of my friends from section C."
I shrugged and told her exactly what the woman said.Jesy held her nose bridge in annoyance, trying to figure it out."No it doesn't add up.Now I'm intrigued. We'll visit her later,You'll get inside while I stay at the door and make sure no one catches us."I nodded at Jesy's plan.I knew she was going to help me.
A few hours later Jesy and I were trying to sneak in on the corridor leading to Perrie's room.Good thing the nurses weren't around.
"You go I'll wait here."Jesy ordered, still cautious.I nodded and quickly pressed on the door knob, trying to let myself in.The door didn't open and I very nearly broke my nose.I did make quite a loud noise and I hoped I didn't scare Perrie much.Jesy dragged me away in case someone would want to check on the corridors.
Indeed,a nurse took a quick look but she didn't notice us hidden behind a locker.Luckily we also spotted some keys and decided to try them.
"Why would they lock her in?"Jesy whispered, holding the key chains while I was trying each one of them and none seem to fit in."I told you something was suspicious."I was starting to become frustrated.
"Ugh it won't open!"I whisper-yelled.Right when I was about to give up the key twisted and the door cracked open.I looked at Jesy who signalled me to get in quickly.I dashed in,closing the door behind me.Perrie was in her bed, reading a book and clutching a pillow at her chest.
I cleared my throat but she didn't seem to have noticed me.She looked emotionless."Perrie?"My voice croaked,a bit uneasy,as I was approaching the bed.Suddenly she closed her book, slamming the two covers and the pages between them together. Then she turned her look on me and started shaking her head, pointing to the door.It almost looked like she was demanding me to leave.
"Hey I thought we were friends."I soothed, not wanting to leave. Not after I had almost got caught.A few tears slipped down her cheeks and she just looked down.I was trying to catch a glimpse of her look, when she looked up and our eyes met.She sighed quietly and rolled up her sleeve. She pointed to her veins and stretched her arm out for me to have a look.I got closer and I was about to grab her arm,in order to be able to look closely, when she pulled it fast, shaking her head. Was she afraid?
"I just want to look closely..."I whispered,my facial expression softening and she closed her eyes then nodded slightly, stretching her arm out again. This time she allowed me to analyse it.I gasped when I noticed the traces left by needles."Did they do this to you?"
She nodded, tears forming again in her eyes."Why?"I asked full of anger. She did not deserve that treatment.
Out of the blue Jesy barged in"Jade,we gotta leave!"She breathed out."But-"
"C'mon someone's coming!"She grabbed my hand and dragged me outside, not forgetting to lock the door again so no one would've suspected anything.
We managed to sneak out of that part of the building without getting caught.
"Where have you guys been?"Leigh-Anne asked waving at us.I started stuttering but Jesy handled the situation like a pro"I was giving the new girl some tips about surviving here."
Leigh laughed,nodding."I understand."
I smiled and sat at the table with the rest of the group.Jesy let out a sigh of relief and so did I.
"We're not done yet."I whispered, letting her know that that was just the beginning.
