Thankfully, it's the nice girl I met earlier, Ariel. Derek steps away from us and walks away when Ariel shows up.
"Hey Haley! Derek is soooo hot!"
Yeah...he's hot alright.
"Ehhh, he's okay."
"You know who's hotter?"
"Who?"
Ariel smiles and takes a step closer to me.
"Travis."
I shudder at the sound of her saying his name, but I smile and shake my head up and down.
"Yeah, he's definitely hotter than Derek."
"I'm so glad Grace agreed to adopt you! It's gonna be so much fun here with a girl my age!"
What? Grace is adopting me.....nobody ever told me that. I guess I'm not wanted at home. Well, maybe Ariel's lying.
"Yeah...it's.. great."
Ariel grabs my arm and jumps up and down.
"I'm so happy! We'll be together forever! Friends forever! Oh my gosh, we'll be sisters!!"
That means I'll be Travis's sister unless he hasn't been adopted by Grace and she's still looking for a home for him. I can't believe my parents wouldn't tell me though. I walk away from Ariel and make my way up the stairs.
"Oh Haley! Where ya goin? Dinner's ready!"
"I'm not so hungry."
"Oh okay, I'll tell Alanna you're not feeling well."
I ignore Ariel and go upstairs to my room. I walk in my room and shut my door so I won't be interrupted. I sit down on my bed and take out my cell phone and see I have a missed call from my mom. I roll my eyes and call her back...I was gonna call her anyways. After two rings, my mom picks up.
"Hello?"
"Hi mom."
"Oh my gosh! How are you sweetie?"
Yeah no more Ms. Nice Haley for her. Maybe if she would've been honest with me in the first place, I'd give a crap about her.
"Mom you lied to me. I know about Felisha. I know I'm not coming home and I don't care anymore. Don't bother visiting me because I'll refuse to talk to you. I never wanna talk to you again. You should've told me the truth in the first place. I get it, you don't want me in your life anymore but why didn't you just tell me?"
My mom is in tears, but I hold mine back and take a deep breath. She needs to explain herself.
"Honey...I don't even know how to respond to that. Your father and I didn't tell you about Felisha because..."
I interrupt her before she even finishes.
"Because you didn't wanna be the one to hurt me."
"Yeah....I better go now."
"Don't call me back. Grace is adopting me according to you."
"The ranch is your new home honey."
"I hate you mom. Never talk to me again."
I throw my phone across the room and lay back on my bed and start to cry. I can't believe they didn't tell me in the first place. I'm never gonna talk to her again. She's such a jerk. I hate her. No wonder she wanted me to pack so much stuff...I'm never going home again. That's the truth... I'm interrupted by a knock on my door. I lay on my stomach and bury my face in my pillow and mumble.
