Back to Quinn!

When I woke up, it seemed to be about five thirty a.m. of course. Alan was sleeping in a upright position. My head was probably on his shoulder all night. I'm so thankful nobody discovered us! I'll let Alan have a few more minutes, I thought. He deserves it. I sigh and lean back. Then out of the blue the door swings open. I jump up into a fighting stance. It's a bodyguard. The dumb one too. Shouldn't be to hard to take down. Alan stirred beside me and groggily hopped up as well when he saw the buff guard. Not the one who tortured me by the way. Man, I'd already be on top of him if it was that guy.

"Wait wait!" the macho man said raising his hands in the air. Alan and I glance at each other. His light brown hair reflected specks of blond in the sunlight. Somehow he still looked handsome, even after being abruptly awoken. His small frame shivers slightly.

"I mean you no harm. I've come to help you," said the man. Eh, I trust him. Of the late, I think I've got a knack for trusting the right people. I nod. "Welcome to our humble abode," I gesture to the ramshackle room. Buff man grins a goofy smile and stomps in. Alan raises his eyebrows at me. 'You really think he won't report us,' he telepathically said. I look a Alan and then at the guard sitting on the wood floor, braiding straw. 'You don't?' I said ending our conversation.

Alan smiles at me. "So what's your name?" I ask the guard. "Duffy," he said not looking up from his braiding. I giggle. But then realize he's as serious as death itself. His name perfectly suits him. Duffy finished his braiding and forced me to kneel down. He tied the long straw braid around my head like a circlet. "A crown for the princess,"he said staring proudly at his latest creation. I really admired this guy. "You really are pretty, Quinn," Alan said. Duffy may not be the brightest bulb, but he saw Alan looking at me and noticed something there.

He started poking Alan,"Quinn and Alan sittin in a tree-" "Dude quit it," Alan said turning red. My sides started hurting from laughing so hard. "Let's just go," Alan said after failing to quiet Duffy. We climbed up onto the train. Duffy stood dumbfounded at the panoramic view. I gently nudged him and he stared happily at me. "This is the best day of my life," he said,"I have two best friends and I've never felt so good before." I feel a stubborn tear dribble down my cheek at his kind words. My two best friends. Actually one of my besties is not here. Wonder how Melody's doing. We instruct Duffy on how to properly jump over trains and we set to hopping.
