Today is our first counseling session, Jalen had Nyx for the night so after Jalen drops him of at his moms he's going to pick me up and we'll be on our way. I really don't know what to expect but I just hope that this is the right decision for the both of us. As I got dressed I was also mentally preparing myself because I am nervous as hell for what all is going to be said. Jalen and I promised each to be 100% honest and to understand the emotions we'd both be going through. Our counselor informed me before hand that everything is going to get worse before it gets better and that if we're both serious about improving our relationship that we need to attend every session.
After for what felt like hours of standing in my closet trying to find a outfit jalen is knocking at my door. I ran downstairs half dressed and opened it, "Okay just give me like 10 minutes I swear I'm almost ready. I'm just a little scattered right now."I rambled off. "Take your time we have a hour."he sat on the couch.
I came downstairs still not happy with how my outfit turned out but at this point we're about to be late. "You ready?"He asked flicking through the channels. "Ummm I think I wanna change one more time, I'm sorry you can get in the car if you want."I said critiquing my outfit in the mirror. "You have 10 minutes."He laughed walking to the door.
I was finally content with how I looked so I hurried out to the car.

"What was wrong with your last outfit?"jalen laughed. "I was in sweats."I laughed. "You looked good in them."he smiled. "You want me to go change again?"I laughed. "Put your seat belt on."He laughed ignoring me. "Are you just as nervous as I am?"I started conversation. "No. Why are you nervous?" He asked. "Because We're being transparent and open about everything we haven't told eachother and how we feel. I guess I'm just scared to hear what I already don't know."I nodded. "It's okay for you to feel upset about anything I say and same for me."he laid his hand on top of mine. "I really don't know what to expect though."I shrugged. "Step by step liv."Jalen comforted.
"Hi im Kyle Montgomery thank you for coming."He shook our hands. "I'm Olivia and this is jalen."I introduced. "Nice to meet the both of you. Please take a seat and we can begin."Kyle smiled. "Okay so I like to start most sessions off with discussing main issues and concerns about the relationship, and before we start off with that I want it to be known that this is a no blame space and everyone is free to speak their mind."he informed. "Who would like to start first?"He asked. "I guess I'll go. My main concern is that liv can be controlling I know she doesn't do it intentionally it just happens."jalen said. "Ok good Olivia it's your turned to me."Kyle said. "Trustworthiness, responsibility, respect, consistency, effo-"i listed before getting cut off. "Olivia we have to discuss why you feel a certain way so let's start with trustworthiness." Kyle laughed. "Right sorry. Jalen has showed me in the past repeatedly that I cannot trust him because he entertains females that flirt with him and doesn't tell me about until he gets caught or if he does tell me about he doesn't give me the whole truth."I explained. "Good start. Jalen did you want to go again?"Kyle nodded. "She's unforgiving, inconsiderate, and spiteful."jalen looked at me. "She's unforgiving because she will hold small things against me and says she forgives me but in the middle of an argument she uses it against me. She inconsiderate because she makes decisions that affect both of us and doesn't tell me until last minute or before it's too late to talk about it to where we both can decide."jalen went on. "Is all this happening currently in the relationship or it use to happen?"Kyle asked. "Oh we're not in a relationship most of this use to happen and we never spoke on it."I said. The room fell silent while Kyle took note of everything. "How are things right now?" He asked. "We're okay. Right?"jalen looked at me. "I wouldn't want to be controlling. If you think we're ok then we're ok."I laughed. "Olivia."Kyle laughed. "Right Sorry. I think we want to be better."I nodded.
