Chapter 1

Tapping the window my gaze remained towards the trees, conversation pushing around me as someone laughed at a petty joke her friend in the corner attempted to make. Rolling my eyes i stood when we came to a stop making sure to drag my bag onto my back, side stepping threw the lines of kids letting out a sigh of relief once off the bus.

pushing my hoodie over my head silently making my way home, the wind making sure to swing my hair each and every way like it was fighting air. Grumbling i used my hand to force it down now walking in a weird position looking like i was trying to yank my hair off" stupid wind.. Stupid school." Whispering to myself i let out the most pussy like scream i could when i got tackled swinging around and punching who ever attacked only opening my eyes to see shane smirking down at me. Shirtless.. Freaking out i swung my bag at him storming off towards the house " whats up lil sis! How was boot camp." Sighing loudly i turned " it sucked. And it's called highschool not boot camp. I don't want everyone thinking I'm a warrior." He snickered putting my luggage next to the door following close behind me. " why the hell we're you outside in 20 degrees shirtless!"

I pointed him out with my phone staring while he stood unfazed waving casually " ah you know. Showing off for the ladies on the bus. Never know when a new number could be needed" he winked running off only for chris to walk in holding a book in hand. " Katie! Your home. Why didn't anyone tell me sooner!" Throwing the forgotten book he pulled me into a tight hug making sure to choke me in the process." MOM!!! Katies home!!" Within seconds a stranger would freak out thinking a bull was running in the house, but it was only my mom who pounced on me kissing my cheek " hey honey. Why didn't you call and tell us you we're in town." Not letting me go they clung to me making sure to question my every move "mom. I was in college, not the war. Why is everyone acting like i died and just came back from the dead.?" Of course within ten minutes every family member was cramped in the kitchen talking and saying their welcomes of my return. " I'm gonna go shower. Now if you excuse me i don't wanna be followed"

the room silenced but i didn't take the chance of being stopped rushing up the stairs into my old room, everything sat in the same place they we're left. My computer laid on the shelf as drawings covered my wall letting off a young teen mood.  " its been a long time." Silently smiling to myself i tossed my phone falling back on my bed the blankets curling in around me warming my frigid skin. " hey Kat I'm going out. Wanna come?" Shane opened the door looking around before his eyes landed on me laying spread out on the bed. Walking over he took a seat beside me. " Katie. Did something happen while you we're gone?" He held my hand softly keeping a dumb smile on his face. " what do you mean." Sitting up i faced him frowning. Watching him smirk my mind raced touching my face to make sure their wasn't anything on it." I don't know sis, you look sexier. Did you get surgery done." My mind went blank staring at him quietly before glaring throwing a pillow at him violently making sure to aim for his head. " wow! Sis calm down it was a compliment." Laughing he jumped back forgetting he was sitting and fell to the floor groaning in pain. Now it was my turn to laugh smiling at him. "Your such a jerk." Pouting i helped him up. " you know it. Anyways be ready soon. Make sure to look s-e-x-y" he wiggled doing a small dance move leaving me alone one again. Shaking my head i took off taking a quick shower before putting on a dark blue summer dress and some leggings.

Looking in my closet i stared at the heels my mom purposely put my room probably hoping I'd take my chances at wearing them. Welp. She was wrong, i grabbed my boots pushing them on finally rushing outside to meet up with shane.
" took you long enough sis. I said sexy not godly." He snickered helping me into the car before seating himself starting the engine. " so where are we going anyways?" Seeing him smirk i frowned again. "A bar." Looking over he kelp his eyes on the road holding my hand softly " come on katie. Its just a few drinks. I'll keep you safe." His promise calmed me nodding slowly looking over to stare out the window.
