Knock. knock.

"Come in." I call from my desk.

A nervous looking Danny walks in.

"Ummm Ms. Solis.... Your t...t... two o'clock just arrived."

I sigh I don't know why my new assistant is so nervous around me but he is.

"What have I told you about all this 'Ms. Solis' stuff it's Trinity. Tay for short and let her in."

"Your the boss Ms. So...."

I give Danny a sharp look.

"I mean Tay."

I give him a warm smile. He returns it right before he leaves to let my two o'clock in.

I get up to greet the lady about to walk in. Not that I was supper excited to see her. I was hoping she was going to skip coming to see me this year. Don't get me wrong I like her as a person, and we even do lunch occasionally, but I know she is only here for one thing. Every year around this time, she tries talking me into activly helping her with one of her charity projects. Don't get me wrong it's a very good project and I am on the board and help by donating but apparently that's not enough.

Rebecca Gambino walks into my office like she owns the place. She always does and I never understood how she can wake up with so much confidence but she does.

"Becca. How are you?" I greet embracing her in a hug.

"Good as always Tay and yourself." Rebecca says returning the hug.

"I'm good. Take a seat. What can I do for you?" I say pulling away from her embrace and showing her to the chairs in front of my desk.

"Well as you know it's getting to be that time of year again and it's time for my holiday outreach event." Rebecca begins as I head to my seat across from her.

"Yes, I know you do something every year and every year I donate to the cause."

"Yes but this year I could really use your help." She continues.

"Let me stop you right there." I say holding up my hand.

"I have a whole company to run I don't have time to help with whatever this year's project is."

"I knew you would say that. I thought I would come and ask anyway but please here me out because this year I am organizing a new program."

I lean back in my chair thinking for a second.

"Go on."

"Fabulous. So normally I round up some teens and we organize a food drive, a toy drive and work in the community. They get a chance to build on some skills, get paid, even maybe a few get a little extra depending on the kid. All ending with the party on new year's eve. Right?!"

"Yeah that usually how it works."

"Well this time I have upped the ante."

"Get with it Becca. " I say trying to seem interested even though all I want to do is get back to work.

"This year I have teamed up with the city to really help out. I have created an outreach program to help teens that are in juvenile hall or on probation get out and give back to the community."

I suddenly sit up straight in my chair looking at her like she lost her mind.

"YOU DID WHAT?" I ask incredulously. "What were you thinking."

"Your supposed to be hearing me out." She let's out.

"Ok fine. What ever. Continue." I mumble out. Leaning back once more in my chair.

"Back to what I was saying so with me and the adults I can get to actively participate.....

She laid out all of the details to her newest endeavor for the next twenty minutes. I had to admit the newest way to help out the community and not the same old run of the mill idea sounded good in theory but what would it look like in actuality? If it worked the way she hoped it would it would certainly help a lot of people. Not just people already apart of her yearly event or chain of events I should say but reach new people. This could be life changing for some.

"So what do you think? Will you help me?" Rebecca asks finally finished with her proposal.

I watch her for a moment while I am deep in contemplation. Gone is the women who wore confidence like a second skin. Before me is a nervous shaky woman trying her hardest to get her dream get off the ground.

After a few minutes I give her a small smile and say, "I think that this new plan will take a lot of hard work but the benefits will make the work worth it."

She returns the smile.

"You know me, I am not afraid of hard work."

I sigh and lean into my chair more trying to weigh the pros and cons of this new idea some more. I finally reply, "I will see what I can move around on my schedule. I can't make any promises but I'll see if I can help you and get back to you by weeks end."

Rebecca let out the breath she had been holding. With a big smile on her face she said, "Thank you Tay. You won't regret this."

"I didn't say I could or would. I said I would see what I can do."

"Yes but we both know what that means." Rebecca says as we shake hands and she walked out of my office.
