Chapter 8 - "Faces'

Me and Maddie run downstairs and-

M- I-its him again...

A guy was sitting in our couch as if nothing has happened. He had black hair and he was wearing a black T-shirt  with a black jacket. Dad glaring at him angrily. Maddie looked terrified. He started looking around the house until he spotted me and Maddie at the bottom of the stairs and suddenly he gave a smug smile

?- I see u have another pawn huh?

He asked as he turned to face dad again. Dad came into the realization that we were there too. He looked even more horrified than Maddie suddenly. I was still confused but I kept holding Maddie's hand tightly.

M- J-jack we can talk about this-
(Jack- Ja)
Ja- oh I have had enough of this tantrum. I have asked u already. Send the money to my house by this weekend or..

He looked at Maddie again

Ja- My hotel. Alright Greg?
Kd- I just need some time. It's almost ready-
Ja- May I ask, who this is?

He said while pointing at me. Maddie pulled me behind her. But by then, I was angry enough. I step out in front of her and glare at him

K- I m his daughter. Why u have a problem with that?

He suddenly looked confused and looked from me to Maddie for a second before standing up and straightening his jacket.

Ja- Guess u haven't told her abt me huh, Greg? You really don't know who I m, doll?
K- Of course he didn't. And also, we don't invite trash in our house
Ja- What did u just call me?
K- Why, never heard a more decent name for u?

He glared and started to walk towards me when suddenly, someone else barged into our house and stood in front of him

Ja- ASHTON! GET TF OUT OF MY WAY!
(Ashton- A)
A- And what if I say no?
Ja- You realize who u r talking to?
A- Oh please. Now, come on u r late

Jack grumbled for a second then walked out of our house. Dad slumped into the couch and put his face on his hand. Maddie let out a breath of relief. I still didn't know what the heck was going on

M- Thank u for that Ashton
A- Well, u r welcome. But uh- *looks at Kenzie* You need to be more careful.
K- Why?

He chuckled for a second. I took into consideration that he was actually uh, cute. He had dark brown hair and brown eyes. I suddenly realize that I was staring and quickly look away

A- Jack may not be the real threat but I might not be around always. Besides, our Dad will do anything for him.
K- Wait wait hold on. "Our Dad"?
M- Kenzie. He is Jack's brother
K- Wait what?! But-
Kd- Maddie, u two go upstairs pls

Maddie pulls me upstairs and makes me sit on the bed. She quickly locks her door and comes and sits on the bed and puts her hand on her face. After a while, she takes a deep breath and starts talking

M- Yes. The guys who..u know..it was Jack. The man who bought dad's company, Jack's dad.
K- Maddie, uh why did Ashton-
M- He is only doing it because he doesn't like his brother. He is the younger brother and he isn't getting a share so they have a conflict. He will stop at nothing to embarrass Jack
K- Oh..
M- Kenzie?
K- huh?
M- Don't believe him
K- What?
M- I saw ur face when u we're looking at Ashton. Don't believe him. He can be worse than his brother when he gets the chance
K- But-

I get interrupted by a phone call. I receive it and hear that familiar voice again
