( yo author here. This is my first self insert story so tell me if anything needs changed. Spelling with be TERRIBLE because I wrote most of this on Mobil and it doesn't tell me what's wrong and what's right so I apologize for grammar. Let me know if I need to be more descriptive or less or anything. Thanks for reading ❤️)You have prepared your whole life to get here, every competition, every practice, every new pair of ice skates. You dreamed of this and now you have a shot at being one of the youngest to compete at worlds. sitting on the cold stands getting ready to entire the rink you looked over at your coach, she was smiling as she gave you the thumbs up. Your entire family was watching in the stands and you knew everyone bacl at home would be watching as well.
you heard you name called, it was time, you skated to the middle of the rink, getting into your ready position waiting for the music to begin. You began to preform the routine you had been working on for over six months. you had been having trouble on the double axle, but you felt confident you could preform it.
as the music was leading up to the axles you caught a glimpse of your family, screaming your name, cheering for you. you couldn't help but smile. this was it, this could make or break whether you win or not. you twisted your body so now you were skating backwards before jumping into the double axle. you couldn't hear anything, the only thing that went through your mind was that something was wrong, you did something wrong. you landed on the hard ice with your right ankle but it was to fast and way to hard. you felt a crack and fell to the ice. the music continued to play as you desperately tried to get up. you could hear gasps from the crowed, hot tears were running down you cheeks as you stayed there on your hands and knees.
you saw your mother at the edge of the rink, terrified and about to cry. you cried out for her, you sounded like a child but you didn't care, you couldn't move your ankle and your body was shaking. your coach was heading towards you, some medics were following close behind her. everything started to blur. that whole day was nothing but a blur after that, people rushing around and yelling, crying, angry. you were in shock, the doctors said you would have to stop competing for at least a year and go to therapy for your ankle. it felt like you had lost everything, But what scared you more than anything was having to go back to school. thankfully it was the Friday before Christmas break which meant you didn't have to face anyone for two weeks.
you had relunctly been going to therapy for about three weeks, at first it seemed like a waste of time. you couldn't walk without aid from someone or your crutches and aside from extensive stretches and "Happy thoguhts" you were getting no where. eventually though you could feel your anckle getting stronger. your mother said it was only a matter of time before you were walking again. you didnt want to be walking though, you wanted to be skating, to go back out on that ice and show everyone who doubted your talent just how amazing you were.
that fantasie would not be coming true for a while however. school started soon and you could start practices until you could walk without a crutch and until you could finish the fitness test the doctor would have you do. As of now the doctors think youll be back on the ice in six months which is better than a year, as long as you keep up with therapy and dont rush the recovery you'll be fine. but waiting was never your strong suit.
every second that wasnt spent on therapy and stretching or motivatinal pep talks from your family, you spent watching your past routines. anazlizing little mistakes and mishaps until you were able to completly do the routine perfectly in your mind. You couldnt bring yourself to watch your last competions however, every time youd start the video tears would find their way down your cheeks. you could never make it to the double, either your phone would be thrown across the room or there would be to many tears to see the fall.
