The young (h/c) girl had been wondering the woods for a good hour. She had gotten lost, but she didn't care. She really enjoyed the change of scenery from her town all the time. Her especially favorite place was near the large plantation of birch trees. She has had a fascination for the trees since she had been first introduced to one when she was two. That was eight years ago. Now, she purposely goes out into the woods to find the birch trees. Even if she manages to get lost, she always finds a way back.

It had been a few hours since she arrived at the trees. She liked playing with what she could find. From stacking stones, to drawing in the dirt with sticks. She had even played with a few squirrels every now and then.

She had begun to walk home, but always found herself walking in circles. She had tried to keep her tears in, but failed as she silently cried to herself, sliding down one of the many birch trees as the sun had disappeared. Leaving very little light from the moon to help her.

"What's wrong lass?" Asked an unfamiliar voice.

She had begun to look around furiously for the source of the voice, but began to figure it was only in her head. But she still spoke out to it.

"I-I can't find my way h-home.." She said, softly sniffling.

"Aw, don't worry lassie. I'll help you. Where do you live?"

"I live in Gairloch. But, I don't know which way I came from.." She said, tear beginning to fall again.

"Aw, lass. Don't cry. I know my way through here like the back of my hand." said the male voice. She looked up from the ground only to see a strange figure. He seemed to be dressed in moss and leaves. But yet she could tell from his green eyes that he meant no harm to her. She decided to trust him, taking his larger hand and followed him through the forest. Every once in a while he would make little moss patches on certain trees.

"How come you're leaving that green stuff on the trees?" She asked, curiosity taking over.

"It's to show you the way home. You know, in case you get lost again if you visit the birch trees again." He said, a smile on his face as he looked at her. He has always had a soft spot for children and could be himself around them. But was extra shy when it came to older people he encounters.

"Oh. That's really nice of you! I actually visit every day. But for some reason I got more lost than usual tonight.." She admitted sheepishly, squeezing his hand a little tighter as if he would disappear at any moment.

"Really? Well then, maybe we can play together when you come around~" He said, getting a little excited to have a friend. It had been years since he had someone to play with.

"That would be awesome!" She said, seeing her towns' lights ahead.

"Well, this is where i'd best be going lass. I'll see you tomorrow then?" He asked, getting more and more excited for having a friend for the first time in a while.

"Of course!" She said, giving him a hug before running off back home.

-Timeskip-

The next day came slower than (y/n) had expected. Maybe it was because she had made a new friend and was just excited to finally have someone to play with. She sighed, finally able to leave her home and followed the moss trail left for her from last night back to the birch trees. Upon arrival, she saw something moving in the bushes surrounding the trees, and emerged.

"Hey Lass, glad to see you here." Said the familiar voice of the Ghillie Dhu.

"Hello. And as promised. I always come here everyday." She said, taking a few steps closer to him.

"I never had a doubt." He grinned and continued. "My name is Allistor by the way."

"I'm (y/n)." She said holding out her small hand.

"Nice to meet you (y/n). Now, what should we do first?"

-after the day-

(y/n) had gone back home, following the moss path that Allistor had left for her the previous evening. She was even more worn out from that night than ever. Due to all the running around they had done and climbing the trees. She would definitely get a good night's sleep.

-Timeskip 8 years later.-

(y/n) and Allistor had grown to be the best of friends. With (y/n) visiting everyday like promised. Even if she was sick she would force herself to go out to see him. Only to be scolded to go back home and get better by her concerned friend. Even if she found it weird, she had grown to even love the guardian tree spirit. Even if he was dressed with moss and leaves, she was always the one to go for personality than looks anyway. Who wants a good looking partner with a horrible attitude?

Allistor on the other hand, had also grown to love (y/n). Even if it were unnatural for them to be together, he still had a large connection for her. She was the only one who had kept her promise of visiting him everyday and hadn't freaked out the first time they met. He wasn't as shy as he had been with other teens who came around. Most likely because he's known her for so long. He had watched her grow up like she was his own kin.

She had become quite the beautiful young lass he expected her to be.

"So Allistor, what are we going to do today?" She asked, looking at her guardian friend.

"Actually (y/n). I wanted to show you something that I thought you'd might like." He said, hoping his idea would work.

"Alright then. Lead the way." She said, giving him a smile. His stomach twisted in knots as he lead her to another part of the forest she hadn't adventured in. She had become more confused as the sky had gotten darker with each passing hour. It was maybe two or three hours they had been walking before (y/n) spoke up.

"I don't want to sound to complaining.. But, are we there yet?" She asked, forcing her legs to move on to keep up with him.

"Almost there. About another few steps and we should be there." He said, his face growing a pink tint to it as he looked back to her.

-timeskip to the awesomeness-

Once they had arrived, (y/n) was awestruck. There was a large waterfall with a bunch of birch trees, and different types of flowers scattered on the ground.

"Allistor, it's beautiful." She said, still gazing at the scenery in front of her.

'Not as beautiful as you..' He thought as he spoke out loud, "Really? I thought that you'd might like it." He stated, stepping closer to her.

"I don't like it, I love it." She said, giving him a tight hug and pulled away, only to have him pull her back into another hug.

"A-Allistor?" She questioned, her face growing a dim pink.

"I'm sorry lass, but i've been meaning to tell you this for a while. But, I think- no.. I know that I love you.." he said, his  face growing redder by the second.

(y/n) was silent for a moment, taking in what was happening. Allistor had taken her silence as rejection as he sighed, releasing her and only to be pulled back into a short yet sweet and loving kiss from her.

"I love you too Allistor.." she said in the kiss, feeling him smirk and kiss back with more passion than he thought he had in him.
