Chapter 9

The next day...

Jay's POV

After what happened yesterday, I stayed by Valerie's side.  Even though Matt was supposed to stay the night, I objected and stayed just to make sure she was safe and no one else was coming after her. She's asleep at the moment. I sit here by her side and just watch her. Her chest moving up and down at a steady pace as she breathes. I'm not gonna let her out of my sight. If someone wants to hurt her, they're gonna have to get through me.

She starts to move slightly turning her head towards me. I grab a hold of her hand.

"Hey" she said opening her eyes slowly

"How ya doing?" I asked holding her hand tightly

"I'm fine. I just want to go home and lay on something more comfortable than this hospital bed" she said

"I got you"

"Where's Matt? Isn't he taking me back to his place?"

"He should be coming but please reconsider and go home with me. You'll be safe there cause I'll be there"

"I really don't wanna argue about this. I just wanna go home with Matt"

Just as she said that, Matt walks in.

"Hey Val, I bought some clothes for you to change into.  I finished with all the final paperwork so you're good to go" said Matt

"Thanks Matt. Where's Gabbie?" Val asked

"She got called in right as we left. What you need?" said Matt

"If she was here she could've helped me to change but I'll do it. It'll just take a minute" Val said as she started getting up from the bed

"I'll help" I said

"I'll just call one of the nurses" Val said

"C'mon it's not like I haven't seen you before" I said

"Jay I think she's got it" said Matt

Val gets out of bed and grabs the bag of clothes and makes her way towards the bathroom.

"I'll be out here if you need help with anything" I said

Val's POV
I head into the bathroom and change. I untie the hospital gown and take it off slowly cause everything still hurts. Especially the stitches on my stomach. I can't help but weep in pain as I slide the gown off.

"Is everything okay in there?" Jay asked through the door

"Yep...everything...is...fine..." I said holding in the pain

I continue to put on clothes. I pull on leggings and the cotton shirt. Turns out it got caught on the stitches as I pulled it down. The cotton pulled on some of the stitches causing the skin to split open.

"SHIT" I hissed in pain as the blood begins to come out

"Val are you okay?" Matt asked

"Um..." I said as I opened the door

"Oh my god you're bleeding. A LOT" said Jay

"No shit Jay" I said with my hand over the wound

"I'll go get Will" said Matt

"Keep pressure on the wound. I'm gonna help clean you up" said Jay

He grabs whatever gauze was available and helped clean the blood up.
