CHAPTER SIX

The week after all the confessions and the discovering of my actual abilities passed by rather quickly and by the time Sunday came around I was exhausted from all the training Kyle and I did every night. As I sit at the dining room table my head throbs painfully from all the concentration I had done this week.

I am definitely going to have a migraine by tomorrow.

Aunt Hanna places a glass of water with some Advil next to my plate and I smile at her grateful that she always knows how to make me feel better. “Thanks Nanna” I kiss her cheek and dig into my breakfast with a little more enthusiasm than before. She sits down next to Kyle and we all finish our breakfast in peaceful silence.

I drink the Advil after my meal and silently pray that it will kick in soon as I take my empty plate and glass to the sink. Kyle dishes up a third plate for him and I roll my eyes at his eating habits. He is a guy, but goodness can he eat!

I quickly go up to our room to take a shower and once I finish Kyle is lazily laying on the bed with his hands tucked behind his head and legs stretched out in front of him. I pull the towel tighter around myself and Kyle chuckles “I have seen them before you know” he remarks and I blush. He is right though, but I don’t want him to see the blue veins that started appearing around the area where my heart is situated.

I quickly turn around and put on a bra, quickly followed by my T-shirt, but suddenly Kyle’s cold hand are on my back keeping me from pulling my shirt down. His one hand traces odd patterns on my back and I try to think of a reason why he is doing it. “Why are your veins so blue?” he asks softly and I stiffen under his touch. Is it on my back too? I haven’t even noticed it all I see is the veins on my chest, not the ones on my back.

I slowly step away from him and fully pull down my shirt covering the veins. “It’s nothing Kyle.” I mumble waving it off and search for my pants. He grabs my elbow as I’m about to pick up my shorts and spins me to face him “What did you do?” I pull my elbow from his grasp and look anywhere but him.

“I just tried something last night after you fell asleep and it backfired and now my vein’s color is more prominent and it just won’t go away.”  Confusion covers his face and I sigh “I was outside and heard a cat crying out and it sounded like it was in pain. When I found it I knew it had been hit by a car…I tried to heal the cat, but it didn’t work.”

Kyle wordlessly pulls me into his arms and kisses the top of my head “Oh Kim, please don’t ever try to do that again.” He begs and all I can do is nod my head. Deep down I know I will try again and believe me the next time I will get it right. Kyle does not need to know that I will do it again, because the next time I will succeed.

“Let me see them again” I step out of his arms and hesitantly lift my shirt over my head and toss it onto the bed. He gasps in shock and immediately I cover the veins on my chest. “Damn Kim” he cusses softly and before I know what is happening Kyle is lifting my chin and his lips are pressed against mine.

Oh sweet heavens, oh goodness this…oh wow…

My thoughts are all over the place and slowly but surely the kiss becomes more heated and it’s like a hunger building and building. A sudden heat begins to spread from my chest all the way around to my back the longer Kyle kisses me and ever so gently he eases out of the kiss and I am left dazed and confused. This is definitely not like the usual kisses we have shared before…

When I open my eyes I see Kyle staring down at my chest and I immediately blush and cover my chest. “Look.” Kyle takes my hands away from my chest and I look down and gasp. The blue veins are gone and back is my flawless pale skin.  “Where did they go?” I ask shocked and breathless.
