These sorority girls are fucking crazy. Absolutely, without a doubt, crazy. Each year, the sorority chooses a new set of girls to join their little squad or whatever. Before I even step foot into the house, I can hear chaos.
From the moment I actually walk through the door it only gets worse. I'm greeted by excited screaming and giggling over the initiation rituals that the newbies will have to do as a demonstration of their loyalty to the sisterhood.
I'm barely lucky enough to make my great escape before they try to rope me into help, not that I would put much effort into it anyway.
Just because I'm living in a sorority house doesn't mean I want to be a Kappa sister.
I pull into the familiar parking lot near the dorms. I take out my phone and text Harley to see if he's in his room or at the garage. Either way, it's a good thing for me.
If he's in his room, I'll go in and hang out with him. If not, I'll go in and try to plant some more seeds with Alex.
My phone vibrates and the screen lights up with a new message, a reply from Harley.
*At the garage. Won't be back until later. I think Alex is there though ;)*
I smirk to myself at the last sentence of the message. Alex is there.

I make sure to knock on the door first, showing politeness I wouldn't usually demonstrate.
Alex opens the door, wearing glasses I didn't know he needed.
"Hey." I say, casually.
"Hi." Well this couldn't be more awkward.
"Can I come in?" I question.
"Uh, yeah sure." He replies and opens the door further for me, taking a step back to let me in. His hand immediately goes to his hair and he runs his hand through, something he does when he's nervous, most likely.
"Gemma, about the kiss..." Alex begins.
What is he going to say about the kiss? Did he not like it, or did he like it too much?
"What?" I snap more harshly than I intended to.
"Was it okay?" Alex asks, surprising me. His eyes travel down to the ground, nervously before coming back up to my face, trying to read my reaction.
"What do you mean?" Why does he want to know if the kiss was okay? Has he not had his first kiss yet? He's eighteen. Most people have their first kiss in their mid teen years.
"Was it a good or bad kiss?" Alex questions.
"Have you never been kissed before?" I ask, avoiding his question.
"Of course I have." Alex retaliates, strongly.
"Then why are you asking about your kissing ability or skills or whatever?" I ask, folding my hands over my chest.
"Because," Alex begins to say but cuts himself off. "You know what? It doesn't even matter."
"No, tell me." I slightly demand.
"No, it doesn't matter. The kiss didn't even mean anything anyway." Alex tells me, shrugging his shoulders.
Ouch. That kinda hurt. His kiss had left my lips feeling all tingly and he's telling me that it didn't mean anything to him.
"Yeah it wasn't that special for me either." I say, rolling my eyes. "People kiss all the time."
"Exactly. It was a mistake made in the heat of the moment and I'm not going to kiss you again anytime soon."
"Fine. I wouldn't want to kiss you again either." Another lie. I've told more lies in the last five minutes standing here with Alex than I have in years.
I don't lie. I'm a tell it how it is kind of person. Blunt honesty, no matter how hurtful it is.
"Why are you here anyway?" Alex asks.
"I'm avoiding my sorority house." I say, which is the truth.
"I didn't even know you were part of the sorority." He informs me. "You don't look like the type."
"Thanks." I say sarcastically, despite the fact that I know it's true. "I just live in the house, but I'm not like a Kappa sister, obviously."
"Can't you find somewhere else to live? If you dislike the sorority so much."
"I don't dislike the sorority." I shake my head. It keeps me away from needing to live with my mother.
"But you just told me that you're here because you're avoiding being there." Alex says, smartly and matter of factly.
"I am staying away from there but only because they're planning Rush Week and I don't want to be involved in it in anyway."
"Rush Week?" Alex raises an eyebrow, curiously. "What's Rush Week?"
"You don't know what Rush Week is?"
Alex shakes his head, "Not a clue."
"It's basically recruitment week. The sisters find new girls, pledges they call them, to join the house." I inform him. "Didn't you ever think about joining a frat house?"
"No, my parents didn't want me to." Alex shakes his head and takes a seat on his desk chair. I walk through the room and take a seat on Alex's bed.
"So," I start. "What were you doing before I got here?"
"Nothing you'd be interested in hearing about."
"Stop doing that." I command. "You always think that I'm not going to be interested in whatever you're doing. If I didn't want to know, I wouldn't have asked."
"I was working on an assignment." Alex admits.
"What for?" I ask.
"School, obviously." Alex teases and I roll my eyes.
"I meant, what subject?"
"Companies, Food Systems and Public Health." Alex answers. "It's a law elective."
"I knew it!" I suddenly declare, excitedly.
"Knew what?" Alex asks, shocked by my outburst.
"You're here for law school." I say triumphantly, surprised that I was right when I said it the first time I met Alex.
"How'd you work that one out?" Alex asks.
"I may not look like a sorority sister, but you certainly look like the lawyer type." I reply smugly.
"Right." Alex says and turns around on his chair to face his desk where his laptop sits, with his screen open.
"What did I say?" I question carefully. Alex's mood changes within seconds whenever his appearance or his parents are mentioned. It slightly happened before when I asked him about whether he had considered moving into a frat house.
"Nothing." Alex shrugs. Well that's a definite lie.
