"Electra! Come on baby, wake up already!"
This is the first thing she hears every morning. Her mum, Natalia, screaming her name from their kitchen downstairs, as she's making breakfast. Well, she won't be hearing that voice for quite the time, after her mum leaves for New York.
She opens her eyes. First thing she sees, is the fake stars she has hung on her roof. She loves the stars. She always have. She loves how mysterious they are.
A smile comes at the edge of her mouth. Not because of the day that lies ahead, but because of the view of the stars. This is why they're there. To remind her, every day, that a brand new day, is a brand new mystery. Even though most days, they are not.
She stays for a couple of minutes in bed and then she gets up. Her light brown with rays of sunshine hair are flying around like she just got electrocuted. At least this is what she thinks.
She goes slowly to the bathroom and sees herself in the mirror. For a moment she got scared from her lion-ish hair, but then she went to brush her teeth without remembering what she saw a few seconds ago. She's used to it.
After she finishes having a shower and brushing her hair she gets dressed. She grabs her dark-blue jeans and a white ringer old-fashion t-shirt, with the "peace" logo on the right front. She wears her socks, and enter again the bathroom, because she forgot to take her ring from the left locker. It's a metal ring, with some Samoan symbols on it. Her mum gave it to her after she came back from her business trip in Hawaii. This ring represents connection and love, and she always wears it on her thumb.
She takes on a last look in the mirror.
"Agh, God", she thinks. Her dark blue eyes stare at all the characteristics of her face. She is not fat. Her jawline makes a shadow as a ray of sun gets in by the window and hits her in the chin. Her pupils are almost gone, but some of them are still there. Her lips are not big, but neither are small, and the -v- that they form is very pointy. She takes a small hairbrush and brushes her black thick eyebrows. She puts some perfume on then walks away.
She looks back at her room to say goodbye.
"Goodbye bed, that I always held your shoulders to cry upon. Goodbye desk, that without you, I would never know how to draw. And goodbye stars, even though I will never be away from you all."

"Finally! Thought you were dead up there!"   Electra's mum said after she came in, with a small inch of pride, because she thinks she can speak like young teenagers

"Finally! Thought you were dead up there!"
Electra's mum said after she came in, with a small inch of pride, because she thinks she can speak like young teenagers. She doesn't like being called a 40-year-old mum.
"What makes you think I wasn't?"
Said Electra. Her mum looks at her like she just begun a "who can speak more like a young teenager" war.
"Oh, come on Electra. It's a start of a beautiful day, don't ruin it. I mean, look outside! It's beautiful. The sun's all over the place. Come, sit, eat some breakfast."
"Hm,hm"
This is the kitchen table that she's been eating breakfast and dinner all her life. Now it's time to say one more goodbye.
"It's pretty amazing how some things can worth so much to someone" she thought, and then she started eating.
"So, the guys that'll come to pick our things will be here any minute, so go bring your stuff."
"I already have. They are on the hallway"
"Great. Mine are also ready, so we're just waiting."
After 10 minutes, two men with a big truck came and took their things. Before stepping out of the house, Natalia said:
"This is a new beginning in your life. And mine. Are you ready?"
Electra looked back at the house, then at her mum, and then at the road. Then she left for her mum's car, without saying a word. She sat at the back car sit, sighed and thought, "It's gonna be a long ride".
