It was a normal day. Families laughing. Children playing in the streets. We didn't have much but we had enough to survive. This world was a world of dominance the strongest were the ones who survived. If only they knew that in the end no one would survive...

I was on my way back home when it happened. There was a blinding flash. A deafening CRACK! Followed the flash. There had only been talk of this happening. Disbelief filled my eyes. Screams all I could hear. The world was splitting half, as if two giants were pulling apart themselves. Once a small gap now a abyss. I thought the worse had ended if only I knew it had only just begun that's when I saw it. Bodies were falling into the crack. Men. women. Children. The elder's ones were jumping in defeat as if they knew it was inevitable this monster would consume them. it only grew it thirst for blood growing with it. It was hungry and will only continue to grow until its hunger for our kind is fed.

I know I should have stopped and stayed to help but every instinct told me that I would not do much, so I ran. I ran as physically possible, but it was catching up.

Then I fell.

At first the reality of the situation left me. I couldn't feel anything. My body in shock. My life was flashing before my eyes. It was probably the most depressing thing that had happened to me. It was over in minutes. I had such a short life. I had accomplished almost nothing. My mind went to my wife how I would never see her again. As I returned back to reality, I realized I was going to die anyway so I started to look around. It looked like another world one ruled by giants. I heard nothing but the wind rushing past my face. This world was so much more colourful than mine. So much more bright greens, blues, pinks were moving around. As I got closer and closer to my doom, I heard screams of a thousand agonies. I turned to look what is was falling to and what I saw horrified me, the bodies of those who had fallen before me. Their bodies so flattened they looked like one.

When I hit them, I became a part of them. the giants just waked all over us as if we were just a part of the ground. I don't know how long we had been there, but time didn't even pass quickly nothing was fast I had admitted my death. I had given up on the idea of me seeing my wife ever again I had given up on the idea of seeing my daughters again. I had given up on the idea of ever seeing anyone I had ever cared for again. Time went by. Then this bright light appeared. Everything started to heat up. We burned to death and we were left to sizzle.

My eyes opened, I was back home not running anymore. My wife ran straight up to me and hugged I thought I'd never see her face again. it had gone back to normal, but nothing would ever be the same. Now I knew the truth. I looked to the elders and they just nodded as if they knew what I was thinking. They also knew the truth, but I wondered why the children didn't. maybe it's a defense mechanism we had lost when we grew up. Knowing the truth of the raindrop species was depressing and traumatising yet everyone just saw it as a normal thing that will always happen. We will always fall we will always burn, and the sadder fact is that we will always to back to do it all over again.
