HUNTER

As Anna and I sit together in the shade of an old oak tree, her eyes intrigue me. Her laugh makes me swoon. And yet, I am still questioning exactly what is going on inside that adorable, red-haired head of hers. Is she thinking of me? Possibly. Other girls? More probable. You see, that type of thing doesn't bother me. Us being lesbians means chill, casual dates, sharing cereal and checking out cute girls together. But lately, none of that's been happening at all. I really don't have a clue what's been wrong with her lately, but she's clearly not okay. No, she can't be. Not since she's adopted the unfortunate habit of sitting as far away as possible from me on the couch and refusing to even step foot on the second level while I'm in the shower. If I didn't know any better, I'd say she's disgusted by me! Oh yeah, and right now it's like she can't even look at me. Just in case you were wondering. We should be holding hands right about now or at least talking, but no. Instead, her gaze wanders around the park, in a poor attempt to hide the fact that she's trying to get the attention of the girl sitting across from us.

I hear a light laugh, and look over to find her and the other girl chatting like old friends. Nice to know that they've made their introductions. Obvious flirting. Trust me, I know. Anna and I met under these kind of circumstances. And from what I gather, the other girl isn't trying so hard to stop her. Ugh. Now you see, checking out hotties together is okay. But this? This flirting? This is a whole new level. A level that I'm not sure I'm comfortable with.

Kind of embarrassed to be interrupting, I nervously tap her shoulder.

-"Um, Annie? I'm not feeling so well. You think we could head home?" I hope I don't sound controlling, but this kind of thing has been proven to really take its toll on me. Her eyes briefly flickering over to the girl, her tone drops a notch before she answers. Her expression acquires a noticeable hint of disappointment. Maybe this wasn't a total lie, after all.

-"Uh...sure. Yeah. Let's go back to the apartment."
