Camila Cabello had panicked at the beginning of sophomore year when she found out who her new roommate was. She would recognize her name anywhere.
Lauren Jauregui.
Seeing as living off campus was way too fucking expensive, however, she knew she couldn't do anything about it unless she could scramble together enough money to get an apartment with a few friends. But, when that plan fell through, she was stuck with Lauren. And it's been awkward ever since.
See, after they hooked up in freshmen year and neither one of them made any attempts to contact the other afterwards, Camila isn't exactly sure how to approach her. Every day that she looks at Lauren's stunningly beautiful face she wants to blurt, "You're the best sex I've ever had, please let me take you out on a date!"
But alas, she keeps her mouth shut. And things stay weird.
It doesn't help that Lauren is constantly doing small favors for Camila without being asked. Like once, Camila was mumbling to herself about a book report she was struggling with, and the next day she found a fully annotated copy of the book that Lauren must have kept from high school. And another time, just before Christmas break, Camila came back to their room and found a gift sitting on her bed. It was a scarf she'd been going on about when they went Christmas shopping together (which had been a last resort when her friend cancelled on her and Camila had no other options for a ride).
Lauren is just so thoughtful and it hurts that Camila knows they'll never be anything more. Lauren just doesn't feel the same way about her. And that's okay, but it sucks.
She just wishes she could find something to bring them together.

Somehow, someway, Lauren convinced Camila to come out to a frat party.
When they arrived, however, Lauren disappeared to say hello to a few select people, and since then Camila has been hugging the wall with a red solo cup of booze. This really isn't Camila's scene, but if Lauren wanted her to go, how could she have said no? Any excuse to spend time with Lauren was a good one.
"Hey," Lauren's voice startles Camila and she twists around on her toes, finding Lauren standing there with two cups. She glances at the cup already in Camila's hand, then offers one from her selection and takes Camila's previous drink from her. She sips it and makes a face, setting it aside, "Yuck. You'll like this a lot more, trust me."
Camila takes a sip and does a double take into her cup, "Where'd you get this at a frat party?"
Lauren winks, "I worked as a bartender all last year, remember?"
Oh, Camila remembers. Or, more specifically she remembers tagging along as Normani's designated driver on her birthday last year. Her eyes had been glued on Lauren all night. She still remembers how Lauren's tank top squeezed her chest, and how sexy she looked with her hair done up in a high ponytail. Camila pushes the thought away and dismisses the tingling feeling in her stomach as the drink in her hand.
Lauren glances at the crowded room around them, a smirk on her face. She chugs back her drink and sets the now-empty cup down, grabbing Camila's free hand, "Let's dance!"
Camila knocks her drink back as well, stacking their empty cups and following Lauren into the crowd. Lauren's touch sends a pulse throughout Camila's entire body, and instead of fighting it she welcomes the feeling. God, Camila is going to regret this tomorrow.
They dance, and sing, and Camila doesn't think that there's anything better than seeing Lauren smile. Correction, there's nothing better than being the cause of Lauren's smile.
