The house is warm and comfortable. Someone is playing the guitar and singing The Fairytale of New York. Fitting, as they are in New York City.
There are scented and coloured candles scattered around the house, making it smell like hot chocolate, saffron and gingerbread cookies. Jane is sitting at the bar, drinking warm wine and looking out at the organised chaos.
One girl catches her eye. She has dark brown hair and green eyes. A 1940s style red dress covers her body. She has a mug of something in her hands and is swaying slightly to the music. Jane slides off the barstool and walks over to the girl.
"I saw you and you seemed a bit lonely," she says. The girl looks up, slightly surprised, but her face relaxes and she smiles."I'm not, but thanks for asking. I'm Clara, you?" The girl says. Jane smiles into her glass of wine.
"Jane. How do you know Lisa?" She asks. They talk for what feels like hours until someone interrupts everyone's conversations.
"Look! It's snowing!" It's a child, about 7 years old. But everyone walks over to the windows to get a better look. It's the 16th of December and they still haven't had any snow, until now.
Clara takes Jane's hand and leads her to the hall."Shoes," is all she says. Jane obeys and slips on her red high heels and takes her coat for good measure, as it's snowing. Clara doesn't however, as she just walks out the moment her Doc Martens are on.
They're standing on the pavement, looking up at the dark sky and smiling widely. Clara's shivering, clearly regretting not putting on her coat. Jane takes hers off and wraps it around both of them, holding the cold woman closely.
Clara looks up at Jane, who looks down at her. They barely register anything before their lips meet.
It looks just like a scene from a Hallmark Christmas Movie and they don't really care. The snow is falling heavily and it's contrasting beautifully with the yellow street lamps and Clara's dark hair.
I really wanted to write a fluffy Christmas one-shot for the holidays. Comment if you want me to make this multiple chapters, but for now, it's only one chapter
Happy Holidays and New Year!
