Chapter 56

Zayn held Kaia's hand tightly as they drove to Harry and Marian's house in the hills. Liam and Katia sat in the back seat. Today was the day the girls were going to meet their birth father. 

After they had met Bruce, they had gone back to the beach house and sat them down and told them. Katia protested at first. She honestly didn't want anything to do with the man who was only their sperm donor. He hadn't even bothered to try to find them so why should she even make an effort for him. But she had seen the look on Kaia's face and knew it was something that Kaia wanted. With a heavy sigh, she agreed to meet with him. Kaia had been willing enough to meet with Janice and Frankie, so she wanted to do this more for Kaia than anything. She would see how the meeting would go and she would go from there. She told her sister that she wasn't making any promises.

Zayn put in the code for the gate and they drove inside. The twins and Karim were spending the day with the nanny and Zayn's parents who had flown back in from London to spend some time with them.

He parked the car and they got out and let themselves inside. Kaia went to the kitchen and saw that there was still some coffee in the cupboard and she went about to make some. It gave her something to do and helped to calm her nerves a little.

Katia wandered through the house. She had never been there before. Her own nerves were on edge.

"Cupcake," Liam said gently as he followed her. "Everything will be alright."

"If you say so," she said stopping to turn around to face him. "Did he say what he really wanted?"

"No, he just wants to meet the two of you. He wants to know his daughters. And you promised you'd listen."

"What time is he coming again?"

Liam glanced at his watch. "About fifteen minutes," he said. "Zayn and I are heading to the studio for a little while, giving you some privacy."

She hugged him and kissed him. "I love you."

"I love you, cupcake. I'll see you later." He turned and left her to find Zayn.

Zayn watched as Kaia literally sprinted around the kitchen. "Baby," he said and went up to her to stop her. He took a hold of her hands and then pulled her into his arms and held her close. "Remember what we talked about," he said gently. "I know this whole thing makes you nervous, but remember I also know you. And I know you damn well." He smirked at her and kissed the tip of her nose. "I love you and you are all that matters to me. "

Kaia clung to him and felt the strength in his arms. "I love you, Zayn."

He bent his lips to hers and kissed her slowly and deeply. "Call me when you need me, okay?"

"Okay," she said, savoring his kiss, wishing he wasn't leaving.

Zayn and Liam left the house and headed towards downtown LA to the studio. Zayn had given Bruce the address of the house and he couldn't help but wish he could be a fly on the wall. But both he and Liam were a little nervous themselves about how the girls were going to take meeting their father.

Kaia made herself some tea and sat down at the kitchen table. Her knee bouncing up and down. She glanced down at her outfit. She had put on one of her favorite hunter green sundresses with a white cardigan.

"I don't know why you got so dressed up," Katia said and poured herself a cup of coffee. "He's just our sperm donor, he's nobody special." She said.

"Katia," Kaia scolded her sister. "We have to at least give him a chance to explain himself."

Katia merely rolled her eyes.

They both turned when they heard the buzzer to the gate.

"I'll go buzz spermie in," Katia said with a wink at her sister, knowing her words would give her a reaction.
