Stars are not just glowing objects in the sky. They are millions of years of light that we see once a night. They glow up and burn out. They're always changing and I believe that's why we love them so. It's like that quote from Neil Gaiman:
"I like the stars. It's the illusion of permanence, I think. I mean, they're always flaring up and caving in and going out. But from here, I can pretend...I can pretend that things last."
It's so true. I can pretend things last. That things remain the same. I can look at the stars and pretend it's the same exact sky I saw last night and the same night for all the years I've looked up at it. Even though it's not. There's new stars that fill the spot. There's this sense of change even though there's no change at all. And that is why I feel so close to them. Because everything is changing but it's all staying the same.
