We were riding towards god knows where. Maybe towards the sunset, or maybe to the large mountains far out over yonder, or maybe it was to nothingness.
Beth's red bike gleamed from the blinding sun as she raced, pedaling so fast she could unscrew the pedals itself.
We past by pygmy brick stores that have became known to us for the past fifteen years. We past by the flower shop that a boy once bought Beth a rose, the bookstore where we would spend countless hours in, the sun valley high school which is more so known as literal hell.
We zoomed past memories. Memories that were good, and bad.
"You're such a slowpoke Sandra." Beth said dashing by with her smooth ebony hair flying past.
"OH YOU LITTLE BITCH!" I yelled after her laughing.
I could see Beth in the distance parking her bike against a large fence at the park. She took out the 4 books from her backpack that she had borrowed from me a week ago. As I caught up, I dropped my navy blue bike on the fresh cut grass. I stopped to notice Beth's backpack; it had patches and pins of so many things that I could spend hours on explaining.
But then we heard a sudden crash. The sound of glass breaking, the sound of boys snickering, the sound of drunkenness.
We both looked at each other dead in the eyes. We knew something wasn't right.
"Heheheheyyy look at those preetttyy ladiees over there." A boy said drearily pointing at the two trees next to us.
My heart was pounding, and my head started to throb. It was the group of football players in our school. Rumors came around that they raped these poor innocent girls at the school bathroom. But of course. The boys are absolutely adored by our principal. Who could be stupid enough to even try to report it? He would just deny it.
The group of boys began to circle around. Beth's hazel eyes began to widen, full of fear, and anger. My legs began to shake. We haven't moved. We were still in our spot on the innocent green grass near the fence.
"Sandra." Beth said seriously almost like a command.
I looked at her, she had freckles like the stars forming above us as the night sky began to come in. The group of childish boys began inching nearer, walking drunkenly, half slipping on tiny rocks. Beth took my wrist and whispered, "On the count of three we are going to climb the fence, trust me."
I turned around. The fence led to a large bank of water. Now how the hell are we going to escape?
The boys in varsity jackets and ripped jeans were only a few meters away from us. There were 3 boys in all. They were the "head" part of the football team, making them seem more scary than they already are. One boy had dark almond skin, and curly brown hair that look like sea waves. His eyes were bright green like the grass in which he was aggressively stepping on now. The other two of the group were twins, both having blonde hair, freckles, and blue eyes.
"One." Beth said shivering as she noticed the group was almost 4 feet away.
"Three!"
Now my heart stopped. Now WHO the fuck jumps to three and how the fuck can I climb a six foot fence.
