[The next morning]

Yami's POV

I watched as Roxy tended to my little hikari, he was still unresponsive. *Yugi?* still no response. I peeked into his soul room, he was lying in his bed showing no signs of waking up soon. The light he emitted was flickering, the darkness was consuming his precious light. I could feel my darkness, from before I met Yugi, begin to return. I thought back to the day when Yugi first completed the puzzle and freed me. The first thing I felt was an overwhelming need to protect this precious little light from the cruel darkness of this world. I was beyond angry when I realized that bully had abused my hikari. I enjoyed making the people who hurt or upset my partner suffer. The bully, the one who tried to rape Yugi, the escaped convict, the watch thief, the person who ordered his stupid dog to attack my little one, the person who hired someone to try to kill Yugi and the person who was hired. I enjoyed all their suffering, if anyone could hurt someone as sweet and innocent as Yugi then they're lower than garbage. I looked over to my little hikari, who was still sleeping. *please open your eyes little one, I don't want to lose you* I returned to my soul room and broke down crying *Yugi!* I pleaded for Yugi to be ok, for him to wake up but nothing happened. *please Yugi* I curled up in a corner and hoped that my little hikari would come back to me. "Why did this have to happen to Yugi, a boy who has a heart of gold, who puts others safety above his own, who finds the good in everyone even when they can't see it, who does things for others and never asks for anything in return, who has such a pure and innocent soul, why?" I asked anyone who would listen. "Why?" I repeated. I sighed sadly, people always say that good things come to good people, yet Yugi has been good but ended up suffering. This world has and always will be dark, the darkness that destroys the precious lights of this world. I don't want to lose my precious light, the light which chased away the darkness in my heart and made me feel loved again. "Please don't take away my light again, I can't handle losing someone again" I begged. I lay curled up in the corner as the darkness closed in around. I suddenly heard someone yelling "NO!" The darkness began to retreat 'what?' I looked up and was shocked to see *Yugi!?* 《Yami, please don't give up》*I'm afraid of losing you* 《I told you, no way will the darkness claim me without a fight》 I smiled *I guess the darkness lost that fight* 《I couldn't possibly stand to leave you, you gave me the strength to beat the darkness》 *you should still take some time to recover, you need to rest. I'll be sure to protect you from the darkness* 《thanks Yami》 *anything for you aibou* I said as Yugi returned to his soul room to sleep.

[1 week later]

I continued to watch Yugi's friends visiting him for the past week 《I'm tired of lying in bed, I need to release all this pent up energy or I'm going to go insane》 *alright but don't push yourself too much, your body is still recovering little one* 《I know, I also can't stand seeing my friends so upset》 *I'm sure they'll be so glad to see you awake* I said before Yugi took back control over his body.

Anzu's POV

I stared sadly at my little lion cub, who had yet to wake up. "Yugi will be waking up very soon" Roxy said. "How do you know?" I asked. "I can sense his spirit getting stronger, also Yami has been talking to him for a week. Don't be mad at him though, Yugi's soul might have been awake but his body still needed time to recover. Also Yugi's going to have a lot of pent up energy and he's going to need a way to release it" Roxy replied before she started giggling for some reason. "What's so funny?" I asked confused. Movement caught my attention, Yugi was awake and had a fierce look in his eyes like a hyped up kitten. "Are you sure you weren't a cat in your past life Yugi?" I asked giggling. He just huffed "no, I don't believe I was. Although it could be possible" Yugi replied. I just giggled "Come on, let's go home" I said. "Ok" Yugi replied. I gently picked up Yugi and carried him back to his house.
