👔MJ's POV👔
"Are you sure this is a good way to spend summer break?" Mai asked as I finished packing my suitcase.
"This'll be just like the rest of the summers Mai. Except this time we'll be using the abandoned cabin in nowhere after visiting Suicide Road." I replied quietly. I gave my friend a small smile before going to help the others get their bags into the car.
Josh yawned and waved at me as I walked up to him. He looked more tired than usual.
"Hey Josh." I greeted. He gave a quiet hello in response. "You doing alright? We can post pone the trip until tomorrow if you'd prefer."
"You're our leader MJ, I'll be fine." Josh replied hesitantly putting a gentle hand on my shoulder. I resisted the urge to flinch, not that I had much of a choice. Between having hyper sensitive nerves and a bad past with physical touch, it was hard to stay still.
"You sure? You're the only one of us who can drive and none of us would mind heading out tomorrow instead." I caressed his cheek in a motherly manner. He leaned into my touch and closed his eyes. "Let's get you into bed. We'll leave tomorrow."
"But 'm fine.." Josh protested, forcing his eyes to open. I shook my head and helped him back inside. Mai gave me a look and I nodded.
I got Josh to lay back down and watched as he fell asleep. Mai giggled quietly as I left him.
"Oh my god MJ, you're such a mom!" Mai teased. I rolled my eyes but smiled.
"I know. Where's the other boys?" I asked, having not seen Jason or Travis anywhere.
"They walked to QT to grab some snackaroos. As well as more root beer because we don't need Mama MJ™ grouchy." Mai flopped on the couch. We were currently staying at Josh's parents vacation house. Since no one uses it, the five of us practically made it our head quarters.
"Puzzle peices, they can see it connect all the dots," I sang sitting next to her after grabbing a rootbeer from the fridge. I leaned against her.
"You remain oblivious while I corrupt your thoughts," Mai continued the song. She wrapped an arm around me.
That's the best part about being best friends with her; she acts innocent and affectionate when we're alone but extremely protective and dirty minded when we're with others. She also shares the same interests as I do and often understands the jokes and references i make.
"Is it really hard to see that lying isn't bad?" You act like you don't know me but I'm all you ever had," I let out a quiet yawn, my eyes feeling heavy.
"Go to sleep MJ. You really need to get a better sleep schedule." Mai said quietly. She put a blanket over my shivering form and pet my hair.
I slowly slipped into Dreamland...
