It was a beautiful day. The cheery blossoms in Sekai's yard were blooming, and Blue Jays were flying while singing their own special songs.
Sekai was in her flower garden, planting the new Red Carnations she got from her Grandmother a few days ago.
Sekai absolutely loved flowers. Her dad had always let her help plant them in his garden. That is, before he passed away 4 months ago.
Flowers are the only thing she has left to remember him. He died in a fire that started in their house, burning everything that got in its way; including all of their special things. Nothing could be salvaged.
It was a complete disaster.
She and her mother cried for weeks. Until, her mother died 3 months later. She committed suicide. Before it happened, she left Sekai a note and a plate of her secret-family-recipe cookies. The note said:

Dear Sekai,
I love you so very much. I feel like I am a terrible mother for doing this. But, there isn't much left for me to do. For every word I write, I send above a prayer, for you, praying that you live a long and happy life.
I sit on my bed, weeping. I have actually been dealing with deep depression for many months now. Your father dying made it much worse.
I'm so sorry. I just can't take it anymore. You are the most beautiful, smart, creative, forgiving, and hopeful daughter that I could ever have. I love you like no other. Please forgive me, Sekai. I love you so.
Do not go upstairs. I would hate for you to see the mess I've become. You shall live with your grandmother. Call the police. They will take me away. I love you, Sekai.

Sekai denied what the note said and went upstairs.
Only to find her mother on the floor, with a empty pill bottle in her right hand. She was gone.
Sekai lives with her grandmother now. She cries every night, but she always finds the strength to keep a smile on her face for her Grandmother's sake.
Because sometimes...
