As Lucy became one with the seat her eyes became droopy. The heat turned up all the way and hitting her face didn't help much either. Just a little nap right? She thought to herself. It wouldn't hurt, it would do her some good after such an emotional/stressful week. She leaned her head against the window, the cold glass comforting her warm skin. She let her eyelids shut, her body relax, her breathing soft and slow. She saw nothing but darkness, slowly another world appearing before her. She's not afraid, it's like a different life she visits when asleep. But she's not always in control of her dreams, every feeling, thought, or compulsive drug intake. This dream seemed different perhaps even new. She paddled on an endless lake, on a sunny warm day. Her fear of the deep water was gone. In the distance yet at the same time up close, mountains. A few steps and you're at the top or a few months to reach the mountain. Everything was full of color, the same color but ten times more intense. Intense and colorful in a warm memory way.
She felt at peace, nothing on her mind-
"Luz" an echo beyond the mountains, a giant?
"Luz." The water underneath her trembled.
"Luuuuuz"
The lake created waves, the paddleboard began to shake. All her fears, feelings, and worries flooded in. Her heart seemed to be beating outside of her chest. She began to hyperventilate, no sign of land, no call for help. She looked up at the sky... everything went black.
Her neck began to throb, her eyes still closed looking around for an answer. Her legs feel the TV static, and the side of her face is frozen. She opened her eyes, she expected a lake but she got a Frank instead.
"Oh, sleeping beauty we're here." Frank teased.
"What?" Lucy groggily said.
"Uh, the mechanics?" Frank replied.
"Oh...they have a bathroom?" Lucy slowly sat up, she rubbed the rest of her sleep off her face.
"I can check but no guarantees that they do, if all fails just hold it in. Or pee yourself, whatever comes first I guess."
"Thanks for your concern, I see how much you care." Lucy sarcastically answered.
"Only the best for you, now stop being a bum and get off your bun." Frank encouraged.
"First mission, find a restroom. Second, water, and finally my car." Lucy spoke to herself
"Well, I see how your priorities work." Frank pointed out.
"Only the most important first, the rest shall follow," Lucy responded
"Such wisdom." Frank joked.
"You should learn a thing or two from me ya know? I'm the best there is around these parts of the mechanic parking lot."
"All praise the mighty Lucy."
They both joked with each other, a moment of being weird.
"Are you nerds done?" Doug asked
"Squire whom is thee man before my royal eyes?" Lucy dramatically said.
"Why, I shan't know thy man." Frank followed along.
"What the fuck did I just get into?" Doug said more to himself.
"Well whenever you two are done powdering each other's wigs, you can meet me inside." Doug made his way inside the building.
"What a peasant," Lucy said
"A scoundrel I say," Frank scoffed.
"Agreed, off with his head!" Lucy claimed.
"But your chariot?" Frank asked.
"Well then, duties to the queen have spared his life."
"Shall we?"
Frank offered his arm to Lucy as a proper gentleman would do for a lady. Lucy gladly took his arm and stomped towards the building. The warmth calling for her. And she was excited to be warm again. As they both entered Lucy scanned for a restroom sign. The colors blue, white, and bold lettering waited for her.
"Restroom." She whispered to herself as she walked away from Frank.
She did her business and washed up, as she did she saw her reflection. She looked exhausted, she felt it too. Quickly she looked away and finished up, and made her way outside. A vending machine greeted her. Snacks seem nice to have at the moment, after all, she deserves it. She chose the most processed yet delicious honey bun there was and sat down. She looked around and began to think about the different names of the turtle. Listing and denying names, male or female? Both? Is this what it's like to name a baby? Lucy was deep in thought as Frank and Doug spoke.
