I'm still shocked about the whole Liza situation. Part of me is convinced she just did it to avoid drama, but I'm not complaining.
I may try talking to her at a later time about it.
David and I have decided not to tell everyone in the friend group yet, since it's still so soon.
We don't even know if it'll go anywhere."Hey Natalie," David says, and I know he wants something.
"Hey David," I respond.
"So this app gave me a trip to Hawaii to promote their company, and I was wondering if you wanted to join. Obviously you can say no," He asks, or more like says. His face started going red toward the end, and I couldn't help but chuckle.
"Would it just be us?" I ask and he nods nervously.
I have to admit, I'm nervous for it too, but I think it'll be good. It'll help us realize if we do actually want to advance toward a relationship or remain friends without anybody being hurt.
"I'd love to," I smile at him and he smiles back."Great. We leave tomorrow," He tells me and I nod. I decide to text Corinna and Kristen to go shopping since I want all new clothes.
Corinna knew I had a crush on David all through high school, and I'm not sure if she knows I still do. We haven't really talked much about it.I meet them at the mall, and we start shopping for miscellaneous stuff.
"Natalie, did you ever tell David about your feelings?" Kristen asks me, and my eyes go wide. As far as I know, Corinna doesn't know.
"What now?" Corinna asks with a smirk on her face. Kristen shoots me an apologetic look.
"I'm still in love with David," I tell her.
"Oh I knew that. I was just waiting for you to admit it," She says and I roll my eyes.
"So did you tell him?" Corinna asks."Yup," I leave the answer short and sweet, hoping to change the subject.
"What did he say?" Kristen asks, getting impatient.
I start looking through the clothes, pulling out shirts and looking at them."The feeling's mutual," I say super casually, and they start squealing, earning us weird looks.
"No way," They both say, and I try to maintain my squeals as well.
"Yup," I say adding a few more shirts to my arm."This is such good news! Why aren't you happy?" Kristen asks.
"Oh I am happy, believe me. We just can't make a huge scene about it because there are only a few people who know and we're keeping it that way," I glare toward Corinna and she throws her arms up, feigning innocence for all the times she told guys I liked them in high school. Big mouth."Are you guys dating now?" Corinna asks and I shake my head.
"We're just gonna go with the flow,"They continued hammering me with questions, and once they saw I was looking at bathing suits, they got slightly suspicious.
"Why are you looking at bathing suits?" Kristen asked.
"Oh. I'm going to Hawaii,"
"With?" Kristen asks. These people are so nosey.
"David," I say, my face getting pink as I do and they squeal again.
They're going to get us kicked out of the store."And you guys aren't dating?" Corinna asks sarcastically, although I ignore it.
"It's through an app and he asked me to go," I shrug.
"Well then you need to buy more than bathing suits," Corinna says, taking my hand and winking at me.
Next thing I know we're in the lingerie aisle and my arm is about to be pulled off since I'm trying to leave."Absolutely not," I complain, as they hold up all different lingerie sets.
"You never know what's going to happen," Kristen says.
"He's not taking you to Hawaii so you can be friends," Corinna says and I sigh.
They convince me to get one, but I stopped them at one.If David sees this in my suitcase, that'll be a very awkward conversation.
A very awkward conversation that I'm not wanting to have.
I arrive home not long after with the bags of goodies to see David on the couch.
"Hey," I greet him, and he looks up from his computer, shutting it."Did you go shopping?" He pops his head up to look at me.
"Yeah with Kristen and Corinna," I say and he nods.
"What'd you get?" He tries to peak in the bags and I quickly pull them away.
"No," I say my face turning red.
"Why what'd you get?" He asks really curiously now. Good job Natalie.
"Just girl stuff," I say, and he takes the hint that he probably doesn't want to see it anyway.
"Our plane leaves pretty early in the morning. Jason's going to drop us off at the airport at 4," He changes the subject and I groan.
"I know, but it'll be worth it," He says, and I can't help but agree.
He's already shown me more of the world that I've seen, which isn't saying much since I've never left Illinois until just recently.
But Hawaii is a dream. It's a place I've wanted to go for so long, and going with the guy I've spent too many years falling for, is a dream come true
Hawaii here we come.
