A/N a lil' smutty towards the end :) :) :)
Lauren winced at the cameras flashing into her eyes, hoping beyond hope that her legs were a little longer so she could reach the privacy of her blacked out BMW a little quicker without breaking into a jog. She could feel the stretch of her long strides warning her that the steps she were taking were a bit to ambitious for her long limbs.
She knew the paparazzi would be invading that so precious privacy and personal space that she held dear to her heart as soon a she announced the merge with a competing company. She had a stroke of luck the day she found at that poor Mr. Mahone had to hand his thriving company over to his less than interested son, Austin. Lauren had met him before, he was nothing but a lazy, self-centred, spoilt little brat. The only amusement Austin had ever given her was the day she found out his head looked very much like a Dorito which her assistant Dinah Jane had whispered it into her ear when the pair had first met.
Lauren knowing the boy would run his fathers business to the ground and aware that his father knew this would be the inevitable as well, proposed a deal to both Austin and Mr Mahone. It was to merge the companies together. Lauren would run it and have his son be a junior partner but play an unimportant role in the company yet still making plenty of money due to his title as partner. Austin agreed to this as he never wanted the responsibilities in the first place and he was happy with the money he would make from it. Mr Mahone agreeing as he gets to see his business flourish under very capable hands.
The only part of the deal she was not looking forward to was this. Almost painful bright lights from hundreds of cameras, the relentless questioning and yapping of people, and most of all the invasion of person space; unpleasant slithers up and down her spine whenever the crowd brushed against her, people bumping and shoving her shoulders and of course the shit being shoved towards her. Gosh she hated the spotlight sometimes. It was like all thoughts of her being a human being are washed out the window and all she is, is an object which people can use to leach information off of. Purely for their own gain and entertainment.
She opened the car door and sunk down onto the black leather seats of her expensive car. With the close of the door she let out a breath of relief. Finally she was back in her own space, her private, uncrowded, clear headed and calm space. Lauren put her hands on the steering wheel and started to drive. The accomplished business women could have her own driver if she wanted to but she liked the control it gave her. She liked control, especially over her own life, this was one of the reasons she was so good at what she does because she controls, controls the words that flow out of her mouth when proposing deals, controls how she feels and not letting it show on her face, controls the other person to keep them happy and most importantly agreeable. Lauren controls nearly every aspect of her life and that's why it's almost perfect. Surprise, surprise she's a perfectionist. But sometimes it can get a little tedious. She loves having control over her professional life because that's safe but when it comes to her personal life she honestly just wants someone who can take care of her.
The Cuban dressed in designer clothing didn't feel like going home. She didn't feel the need to crash on her bed stripped of any restricting and uncomfortable items. Bizarrely the paparazzi gave her an idea. They seem so interested in exploring and uncovering private details of her life that it brought up the memory of how she loved to just explore and pretend to uncover secrets and mysteries of Miami, her hometown, that weren't really there. In commemoration of that little memory she decided she wanted to explore the city for a bit.
It's been so long since she just observed and absorbed the massive city known as New York.
It's been about an hour since she left the office and started exploring. Green eyes wondering up and down the streets and buildings while occasionally flicking back to the road which was in a current state of traffic congestion, usually unfortunate but in this instance made it easier to observe the buildings around her and not pay attention to weaving through fast paced traffic. Instead she crept along, her green eyes watching as the sun slowly set behind the buildings and the glow from windows of offices still filled with people brighten and cast a beautiful reflection in her own car windows.
