Suddenly, Krish was a part of my life. I don't mean in some romantic or platonic way, but in a way nobody had ever been. Kind of like how an author's book is a part of reader's life, only he was the one with the words and I was the one reading.

There was no way to tell him why I couldn't do more than read. There was no way to really tell myself.

It's been two days.

Not that I'm keeping count.

Not that you could miss me or anything. I mean, you don't even know me.

From: Unknown

And you've effectively ignored my question, too. Is it just me or do you do this to everybody?

From: Unknown

I guess you do. I mean, with an overprotective dad for a father, I may have been the same way.

No kid wants to have their parents embarrass them.

Look at me, having a conversation. With myself.

So I heard you had an eventful day.

Surya must really love you to have been so public about his proposal.

What's your answer?

From: Unknown

13/08/2009 23:13

I guess you're not done ignoring me.

From: Unknown

13/08/2009 23:14

You probably haven't saved my number.

From: Unknown

You're so predictable.

I'm all talked out. Thanks for tuning in.

I sighed, suddenly unhappy about his departure, suddenly lighter than air. What am I afraid of anyway, of daddy, of what I could stand to lose?

The hard image of my father came to mind as I weighed these options and thought things over. Turning to my side, suddenly grateful for study holidays for more than one reason, I felt the phone vibrate. Looking at it, I saw nothing. No message.

Looking away, I heaved into a sigh, my breath heavy once again.

Let's keep things interesting.

I get you to kiss me by December.
