For Geromy, who has forever changed my life.
I miss you.

“Rise and shine bitch!” Andre jumps over me, smacking me in the face. My body is startled, mostly because i was just woken up via slap in the face but also relieved to see it was my best friend, and not some psycho killer.
“You're an asshole” i laugh it off and make a fresh pot of coffee.
Sunday mornings are always my favorite. Sometimes when i wake up early enough i'll watch the moon leave to make room for the sun. Today was not one of those mornings, but i guess i'll have plenty of time to watch the sunrise soon. The coffee maker is broken, i've been begging my mom to get another one but everytime she has the money for anything it goes towards what she calls her “medicine” she says she's kinda like a doctor. She has these needles and she says you have to keep them very clean before putting anything in them. She says this is basic doctor stuff. I believed her up until i was 12 and i learned what was really happening. I used to really think she was like a doctor, i looked up to her. Dad never found out about moms medicine. He was always too busy at work. In all honestly though, i don't think he would've cared. Last week i came home early from school. I heard moaning coming from my parent's room, but they haven't made love let alone love each other in years. When i went upstairs i saw him with his assistant, Hannah.
If she wasnt ruining my parents marriage and my life I'd think shes hot.

Lucas swears I'm an asshole, and you know what? He's right. I make fun of him for drinking so much coffee. I mean seriously, the kid drinks at least 3 cups a day and pops caffeine pills like they're candy. I never really asked why though i suppose, i guess i feel it's not my place, we all cope differently.
He says he drinks it because his nightmares would scare satan himself, he laughs it off and dusts his shoulder, but i believe he's telling the truth. Now insomnia is his second best friend.
My phone buzzes like a bee and i think to myself “finally, someone texted me” when i look at my phone it's actually just a message from team snapchat. Disappointed, but not surprised.
“Hellooooooooo ladies,” Lucas walks in with the biggest smile on his face and hidden hands.
“Surprise!” He throws a cup of hot coffee, soaking my sports cup.
Touché, Lucas, touché.
Lucas
“Truths?”
“Truths.”
“Thank god because that was some hot ass coffee how do you drink that stuff??”
Adam rolls his eyes so far back i swear he can see tomorrow. I hope he can't see tomorrow.
A car horn screams at us from the driveway, it's his dad.
“Come on!!”
“I'm coming!!” he yells back.
“Well, i guess that's me. Bye homo!”
“Bye Andre” he smiles at me with no shadow of sadness in sight.
“I love you man” he stops, and i know i messed up. I never say i love you but this is the last time he'll hear it so i had to.
“I love you biiiiiiitch, i ain't ever gonna stop lovin you, biiiiiitch” he laughs as he walks out the door and into his dads puke green car. The sun raises to the highest point in the sky and smiles at me brightly. That's how i know it's time.
My favorite part in movies is when the protagonist is put through some struggle they don't think they'll overcome, but they overcome it anyway and instead achieve greatness. Everyone who doubted him fails and he gets the girl he's been chasing the whole 2 hours. Unfortunately, this is not a movie and I'm not too sure how to go about this so i'll start with a letter.
Dear whoever finds me,
My first vivid memory is with my mom. Im six years old and she tells me i can be anything. At the time i tell her i want to be a cop and she tells me no..she said black boys dont get to play both sides of the field..that was the first time i started looking at myself differently. Like my path in life was already set..
