As if to signal the start of a very important discussion, which, in this case, rather is, Kaito raises his forefinger. His facial expression tones down, turning serious.
"Let's discuss the first mystery. To begin with, a young man was sitting alone in his room, minding his own business. Right next to his hand, was a single glass of red, luscious wine, made in the finest quality. Attracted to the wine's aroma, he took a swift sip. Next thing you know, he's on the ground, breathless. Lifeless. Skin as pale as snow. It's obvious that the wine must've been poisoned."
"So, who is the culprit?"
"And?" Mochi raises an eyebrow, as if she wasn't paying attention. "Don't tell me you're accusing me of poisoning an innocent guest attending this party...or what was a party until now."
"Oh I wouldn't do such an ill-mannered thing, such as accusing you of something with no proof, mistress." Kaito grins. "I just simply wanted to ask you, why this would've happened."
"...I don't have an answer." Mochi simply mutters.
"So it seems. But of course, I do! The answer to this case is..."
"The man knew that it was his fate to die anyway."
She furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, and surprise. The man...did it on purpose? He wanted to die? Mochi was not catching onto anything. "This is non-sense. Where's the story behind this? And why are you asking me, just because we are the only two survivors here?"
There was a bit of hesitancy in Mochi's voice, despite being so straightforward. Was she perhaps hiding something...?
The sly sneer on Kaito's face returned. "Because since we're the two survivors here, it only makes sense that it's natural to be suspicious of each other, no? That's why I'm simply doing a detective's job. But well, if you wish not to answer just yet, then I shall continue on with the second riddle."
Whatever the second riddle was going to be, Mochi knew she wasn't going to like it, either way.
