CHAPTER 1
Another day, another 24 hours of restless thinking. Gosh! how do I get through all this and be in one piece by the end of the day? Trying to feel alright is exhausting. I wonder why my friends don't go through these things. I hastily make my way out of bed and start preparing for school. Won't be long before they start banging on my bedroom door again. Why can't I ever take my sweet time in anything? Crap. Then again, I would like to get to school right away and out of here.
With that same thought in mind I swiftly put on gray skinny jeans, an aqua tank top, a black cardigan and my favorite black chucks. My hair's long but unbelievably my mom won't let me cut it. So I just try and brush it in to place.
"Avery!!", shouts Mrs.Gale. "I'm comming!!", I shouted back. What a routine. What a way to start the morning. I grabbed my bag and quickly ran down the stairs and go straight into the kitchen. "Whay is it mom?", I asked. "Me and Eric have decided to go on vacation, and since you're old enough to take care of yourself already, we'll be leaving you here with Jay.", she says turning towards my older brother who as always ate quietly.
"Don't worry, I'll look after Avery.", Jay says. "Good, we'll be leaving this evening and we'll be back in a month.",mom says. "But what about Pierre?", I say hoping they wouldn't leave the little thing with us. Pierre is only 6 years old but can be really devilish. It's not that me and Jay hate him, it's just that my mom and Eric always care more about him. Jay, he's adopted and me? I'm my mother's daughter. She never introduced me to my real dad so here I am 16 and clueless of who I really came from. Pierre, he's the real child here. I guess that's why he gets everything and we get leftovers. Crap.
"We'll be taking Pierre with us.", mom says in a no-nonesense-tone. With that said, me and Jay look at each other and say "okay". For once we actually feel victorious. I suddenly had the appetite to eat. I ate 5 pancakes and drank orange juice in a span of 10 minutes. Wow. That's something new for me.
As I stand up from the kitchen counter, I had a feeling that today may be better than I thought initially. So I grabbed my bag and headed out the door and to my surprise, Jay still hasn't left. "Come on, I'll give you a ride. We do go to the same school you know.", Jay says. "Okay", I said. I hopped into the front seat and put my seatbelt on.
