Kylie's P.O.V.
"Um, so you guys want something to eat or something?" I asked the two of them and they smiled and nodded.
"Yeah. I saw a great sandwich shop down the street. We can walk and eat there if you all want?" Jocelyn asked, pointing her thumb towards the general direction of the shop.
"Yeah that sounds great." Jace answered and we all walked out of the institute and started on our way to the shop. We were in a formation type thing where two of us were in the front and the other two behind them, Jocelyn and I being in the front, Jace and Clary in the back. As I walked I could hear them giggling and whispering to each other behind me. I let out a frustrated sigh and nobody seemed to notice except Jocelyn. Out of all the parents, Jocelyn was my favorite.
She was outgoing, chill, smart, and serious, and very VERY talented. She looked at me and wrapped an arm around my shoulders and pulled me into a side hug.
"How are you doing Kyliebug? You okay?" She asked raising her eyebrow at me. Should I tell her what's really bothering me? No. It'll make me look like a pathetic, weak teenage girl. And that's exactly how I feel right now.
"Yeah. I'm doing fine. I just...I don't understand why Hodge would lie to us. You know? We trusted him and he just used that." I told her looking down at the ground. That actually was part of my problem. Like honestly, why would he lie? What did he gain from that?
"People have their reasons and secrets. Hodge is full of secrets and nobody ever finds out what those secrets are. It's probably just a matter of time before he will spill to you his reason of what he did. Hopefully..." She told me as we arrived at the sandwich place. We ordered a few sandwiches, me only getting a drink since I wasn't really hungry, and sat down at one of the booths that was in the corner.
We sat in the same two and two thing, the same people together and we all talked about the art thing Jocelyn and Clary went to. As Clary filled Jace and I in on what happened there and the whole time she talked, Jace stared at her. He REALLY crossed the line when he put his arm on the top of the booth seat, above where Clary was sitting.
I was fuming now. What the freaking fuck is his doing?! Why is he acting all lovey-dovey around her when I'm RIGHT HERE. I let out a long sigh and got up from where I sat.
"I'm gonna walk back guys. I'm not feeling too well." I said as I took a sip of my water.
"Oh okay. You want one of us to walk you back?" Jocelyn asked. I looked at Jace but he and Clary were totally oblivious of my presence. I gritted my teeth and shook my head.
"Nope. I will be just fine by myself." I said and before anyone could try to change my mind,or should I say before Jocelyn tried to change my mind, I turned around and walked out. I was starting to rain down hard but it didn't faze me. I felt so heated that it seemed like the rain would sizzle when it fell on me, like when water fell on a hot stove. I didn't stop walking for anything and not a single one of them tried to stop me.
* * * *
I finally arrived at the institute and I walked straight to my room, leaving a trail of water behind me. I stripped out of my clothes and slipped into my sweatpants and a loose tanktop and pulled my hair into a messy bun, it still soaking from the harsh rain. As I walked into my bathroom and washed my face, I heard the institute door open, close, then lock with voices following not long after.
I sighed when I finished in my bathroom and walked out. I grabbed my new book, The Maze Runner, that Cameron gave me a few days ago and left my room.
Before anyone could see me, I ran towards the green house and ran inside but stopped when I heard two very familiar voices inside it. I quietly walked in and listened closely to find out where the voices were coming from.
I slowly walked up to the wall of leaves where my hidden room was and I was surprised and pissed that the voices were coming from in there. I peeked through the leaves and found Jace sitting on MY couch with Clary's legs across his lap as she flipped through one of my books. To say I was mad was an understatement. I was beyond pissed. I walked through the leaves and stared at them. They still didn't even realize I was there.
"What are you doing in here?!" I yelled, making both of them jump. Jace looked horrified and Clary just looked confused.
"This is Jace's hideout. He just brought me here like ten minutes ago." I looked over at Jace.
"Your hideout? YOUR HIDEOUT?! HE DIDNT EVEN KNOW ABOUT THIS SPOT UNTIL HE FOUND ME ON MY COUCH!" I screamed. I'm so fucking done with this all. I shook my head, scoffing and ran out the greenhouse. I just need to get away. So I ran out the institute as fast as I could, into the big city.
