For a while, I didnt know where I was. And no, it wasn't because I was in a place I didnt recognise. I just simply didn't want to open my eyes to check. My entire body felt heavy and sore. Most of the pain was concentrated on one specific area... My ass?

I moved my legs to confirm whether or not that was in fact the case. To my surprise, I heard an unusual sound. Jingle. A metallic chime echoed through my surrounding with each move I made. If that werent enough, the ache that was in my rear increaced. Now, it wasn't so dull. The sharp pain throbbed and was so great that it had spread down to my toes.

"Where am I?" I muttered. My voice was raspy and trembling, though Im sure the last part was from the fear that I felt. I knew something was wrong, but I didnt know what or why quite yet. I tried my best to calm my breathing, simply because the light jingle of the metal was becoming more and more familiar. Every was silent once again.

And it wasn't the ordinary silence that I'm used to. No, this time, there was no white noise in the background. Not the sound of a radio, not the sound of birdschirping or the fall leaves rustling in the low wind that I usually listen to every afternoon on my front porch. Nothing. The silence seemed to be as distracting as any noise. It was so heavy and thick. It was nearly uncomfortable on my eardrums.

I knew what I had to do, though I was afraid of what I would see. I needed to figure out where I was. It couldnt be far. I mean, I didn't go anywhere last night. Who knows? Maybe I got drunk and didnt remember it yet. I mean, that would have explained the sore feeling I have. I always fall when Im drunk.

I mean... this could also have just been a joke. My brother may have locked me in the closet like he used to when I was only seven and him twelve. He loved to joke around like that. I nodded slightly as if to comfort my own mind. Allthewhile, a sharp pain made its way up my back. It was time. I had to see where I was and act accordingly. If It was all a prank, I would beat my brother's ass. If I were drunk and fell... Well, the chances were that I fractured something and needed to call the cops. "Man my ass hurts..."

I opened my eyes.

My surroundings were nothing that I was expecting. There wasnt a dark brown mahogeny wooden door in front of me. And I damn sure wasn't in any room of my own house. So where was I?

Everything was dark. The only source of light was a line, seemingly paralell to the sloor. It was about three feet wide and a half inch off the ground. That must be the door. I twitched out of anxiety, a habit that I have always had, as I realized how serious the situation in fact was. I wasn't at my house. I wasn't anywhere familiar. Or was I? I mean... I didn't step out of my house very often. And when I did, it was only to buy snacks at the local super market or tocheck the mail. (I know, pathetic.) But what else was a loner like I supposed to do over the summer?

School was finally out and sports season was finished. My brother forced me into playing baseball. Something about 'staying in shape' and 'impressing the ladies'. The truth was that I couldnt get fat if I wanted. I had a fast metabolism. And I am entirely shy when it comes to the opposite sex. Talking to females did nothing but make me anxious and twitch. Yep. 'Twitchy Mitchy'. Thats what everyone in my Junior class used to call me.

So the fact that calming myself by saying 'Oh Mitch, you just passed out with your brother again' wasn't going to work was apparent. This wasn't my house. And I did nothing but play video games all last night.

If that weren't enough, that odd jingle sounded again. Immidiately, I knew what it was. I stiffened momentarily, my body becoming so still that one could have mistaken me for being dead. In fact, I wish I were. With a jerk of a slow hand, I reached down and grasped at the cold metal links. Chains. There were chains everywhere. I bent down, nearly falling from being so dizzy, and fumbled around to feel a metal cuff around each ankle. I then grasped at my wrists to feel metal rings clasped on them as well. As if for confirmation, I help my hands upward. The dim light from under the door reflected off of the steel cuffs.
