CHAPTER 6
I'm in my room, I realize as my body starts to wake up to the morning sun. I felt something heavy draped around me and as I looked down on my belly, I saw that Matt's arm holding me securely towards him. I owe him for my messy-crying-all over-his-shirt moment last night. And for comforting me. But what puzzeled me was the fact that he never left my side.
Matt must have sensed that I've already woken up. He looks up at me, a gentle smile on his face,"How are you feeling?", he asks. "I think I can manage to feel okay". He frowns then. "I'm sorry, Avery". "Me too, I don't really want to talk about it. I'm exhausted from all the crying", I say trying to put a little humor in it. "Come on, you need to eat some breakfast." , he says as he gets up from bed and holds his hands out for me. I hesitantly take hold of his hand and he helps me stand up. "I'm sorry about your shirt, last night, uhm, my tears"I say shakily, "Don't worry about it", he says smiling down at me.
Down in the kitchen, Jay was sitting by the counter while Jordan was making pancakes. Pancakes... mom would never make me and Jay pancakes... not anymore. I felt tears threatening to spring off my eyes. No, I musn't cry, I won't cry. As if Matt knew what was going in my head, he takes my hand onto his and gently squeezes it, then he tugs me towards the kitchen counter.
As I sit down, look at Jay, and boy he looks beat. He looks at me and says "Mornin' Avy". I knew what he was doing. He was trying to keep things togther. All we have are each other now. I love my brother, with all my heart i do. I give him a sweet smile and say "Mornin' Jay". Jay, Jordan and Matt tried to make breakfast as normal as possible. Once we finished, I cleared the dishes and they went to the livingroom.
