"Jack?", Brook shouted through the flat. "Do you want to join me on my run?"
Jack stepped out of their room, his shirt in his hand.
"No sorry, you know I'm not a big fan of runs. Plus I just took a shower. Why don't you ask Rye? He surely wants to come with you."
It was a bad excuse but the more time he spent with Brook alone, the more his heart hurt from seeing his best friend, his love not loving him back. They had a lot of fun together and sharing a room, it would be a catastrophe if they did not. There was an undeniable bond of love between them but although Brook often declared it to the Roadies, Jacklyn wasn't real. Jack himself knew that the best. He turned him on and butterflies lived in Jack's stomach every time the blonde boy complimented him.
Brook had a thing for running around half naked and losing dirty words, but he had no idea what this did to Jack."I already asked him, he's busy. Please, Jacky boy?", Brook begged and used his eyes to convince his friend.
He hid the true reason why he wanted Jack to come with him in his head. All these little signs he had given to the Irish boy hadn't been enough and his hope that he would love him back for more than a friend got smaller with every day they spent by each other's side.
"Fine", Jack agreed with a frustrated sigh.
Brook thanked him and then waited on the front door for him to be ready.
A few minutes later, they were on the street, running in a steady tempo, each with one earplug in. The other one was hanging loosely over their shoulder, so if the other would say something, they'd hear the words.
Brook had a clear goal with this run but Jack just jogged beside his friend. It didn't matter to him to where or how long they were running as long as his strength didn't leave him completely and they didn't talk he was fine.Brook guided them up the street and then to the park nearby with a beautiful old willow in it. It was one of many but it immediately had caught his eye when he found it a few weeks ago on a run with Rye but they hadn't stopped back then. All these weeks he had tried to plug up the courage and talk to Jack. It was yesterday when he had made the decision and the tree immediately came to his mind again. The flat was too familiar, if it didn't go well like the blonde expected neither of them could escape.
By now the two young men had reached the gate of the park. Next to it the wall that surrounded the park began. Since they had moved here a few bricks were missing and none of their neighbours could tell them why.
Jack had fallen behind a little bit and Brook slowed down.
