south koreajeongguk slammed his locker shut and slid his bag on his back.
"finally." he whispered triumphantly, walking alongside the crowd of excited students. the boy pushed through the wave of teenagers, trying to spot his best friend, jimin.
"hey, jeongguk!" whispered a voice.
jeongguk spun around and saw jimin behind him with a big grin on his face. the boys burst into a fit of laughter.
"dude, we made it!" jeongguk chuckled, swinging an arm around jimin.
"i know! and not one panick attack." jimin replied, folding his arms.
the two boys exited the school through the big double doors and strolled home while laughing and making jokes.
"what do you wanna do tommorow?" jimin asked, playing with his fingers.
"not sure. you wanna hang out at my place?" jeongguk suggested.
"if my mom lets me. i've got a shit ton of chores to do and my mom will ground me if i don't do them."
"same. well, i'm gonna go now. bye, jimin!"
"bye, jeongguk!"
and with that, the boys parted ways and walked home.
later that afternoon
jeongguk sat outside, drinking a root beer while watching some little kids playing tag.
jimin had been doing chores, so their plan to watch movies was cancelled. jimin was a very lazy person, so it would be midnight before he got everything done.
although it was summer break, jeongguk felt like he was missing something. but what?
it was summer. no homework, no tests, no teachers, and no bullies. what more could a kid ask for?
jeongguk's pondering was interrupted when he heard a loud clanking sound. it seemed to be coming from the house next to him. but nobody lived there?
he rose from his seat and made his way over to the gate that separated the two houses. he looked through a crack and squinted, trying to see what the commotion was.
men were unloading boxes from a truck and a woman was taking them into the house. jeongguk assumed they were just moving in.
he sat back down at the porch and continued to drink his root beer. until something caught his eye.
it was a boy, skateboarding up and down the road. he was close enough for jeongguk to see.
he was quite handsome. his skin glowed like the sun itself and his eyes were a pure blue color that reminded him of the sea. but there was something about the boy that caught jeongguk's eyes.
his hair.
his blonde mullet was not too long but not too short. it stopped at his neck and strands of his hair fell in his eyes.
the boy stopped gliding on his skateboard for a minute, pushed his hair back, then started skating again.
jeongguk felt his cheeks heat up as butterflies began to flutter in his stomach.
he was mesmerized by this blonde boy. he had never seen a boy with hair like that before in his life.
he watched him skateboard for a few minutes before going back inside.
jeongguk looked behind him one last time, but the blonde boy was not on the road anymore.
but on jeongguk's porch.
