~Auburn POV
Vanessa, Kayla and I were walking around downtown shopping and what not. I decided while we're out that we could stop by Onyx tonight before work. She needs a job, and working together would be so much fun, plus keep her out of trouble. I love Vanessa and all but she loves trouble, she actually invites it in. Except for when it's something serious like our on the run shit we're in now. That we cannot handle, and will not for a long while.
"Have you even told Andreas about your situation?" She asked as we sat down in a booth at Hard Rock Cafe.
"No." I mumbled looking down at my menu.
"What was that?" She took the menu out of my hands and narrowed her eyes at me. As much as I wanted to avoid this conversation, she wasn't going to stop until she got her desired outcome.
"I said no. Now can I have my menu back?" I asked slightly annoyed holding out my hand.
She handed me my menu as the waitress came over to take our drink orders.
"I'm Lisa and I'll be your server today. Can I start you off with something to drink?" She asked not once looking away from her notepad.
"I'll have a kids sprite and an Island Mai Tai." I said looking through my menu for something to eat.
"I'll have a Singapore Sling." Vanessa said.
"I'll have those right out for you." She glanced up from her notepad at me and a huge smile spread across her face.
"Whoa! You're the lady from E! dating Andreas Mikael right?" She asked excitedly.
"Yeah, that's me." I laughed slightly at her outburst.
"You are so much prettier in person, I really hope one day I can be like you." She said and scurried away.
If she knew how I started, she wouldn't be saying that. Vanessa looked at me and noticed the sad expression on my face.
"Shane, you know what she meant. Don't bring yourself down thinking about him. We're here and you made it this far without even a hint to him finding you." She reached out and touched my hand.
"Look V, I don't know what to think anymore. I mean I'm constantly looking over my shoulder, trapped in an ongoing nightmare. It's scary and I hate it, most of all, I'm stuck dragging my kid around because I can't go back to her daddy." I gestured towards Kayla and put my head in my hands.
"Tell Andreas, maybe he can help you. He can protect the two of you, it's obvious to me that he does care about you two. I mean after what you told me about him staying with you, what because you were scared but you couldn't tell him that. You gotta stop being scared and come clean." She preached.
"Fine, when the right time comes along then I will."
"No such thing as the right time, every time is the right time. Hop on it, I'll even take Kayla off your hands."
"I'll do it, at my own pace. When I'm ready then I'll come clean, but until then I'm going to try and enjoy this time with my best friend and daughter." I smiled weakly.
Vanessa's right, I need to tell him, before it's too late. I'm really starting to like him and I can't do that without telling him the truth. The guilt will build and the longer I wait, the longer I'll be lying to him. Maybe I'll call him and do something nice for him to ease into it. Sounds like a plan to me.
Lisa came back with our drinks smiling and took our orders. As we ate I thought about something, if I can get this whole thing to blow over with Demetrius, I can do something to help other girls and woman like myself. This girl wishes she could be like me, which tells me something must not be working out with her. Before she saw me she came to our table quiet and rehearsed, now she's all happy and full of life. She can't be more than 16 years old, at the most anyway. Before I leave, I made a mental note to talk to her, I don't know why but something has drawn her to me.
